We offer 24/7 emergency and specialty veterinary care, including critical care, dentistry, and surgery. On site diagnostics including blood and urine analyzers, cytology, digital radiology, fluoroscopy, CT imaging, MRI imaging, and ultrasound.
Hopefully we don’t have to go back, but I know if we have an emergency where we will go. My lab ate his toy and needed surgery. Two nights and surgery for a reasonable price in my opinion. They saved our pup, he is now home and recovering. Duke and Dr. Simmons were amazing and helpful. Trying other options before surgery which we appreciated. Everyone on staff that we met was great, but those two were the first we saw and communicated with multiple times. In a stressful situation it was great, they really show compassion for their patients.
Neglectful Care and Rude Staff We brought our dog, Akela, to this ER vet around 1 PM for a serious paw injury. The doctor said they’d get to her in a few hours, but after 8 hours of being hung up on when looking for an update, we decided to swing by. They made her walk up to an exam room, every time she moved her paw. We could see her tendons, blood pooling and spilling out of the wound. All they’d done was give her pain meds. They didn’t clean or wrap the wound, which worsened significantly—her tendons were exposed, the vet even told us that because it's been a long wait, her skin was dying off, deteriorating, and they'd have to remove a lot of tissue. When we asked for information on the lack of care. The doctor accused us of being “selfish” and “risking other animals’ health” for wanting information. She dismissed our concerns about the wound worsening, saying I was “grossly exaggerating,” yet admitted they now needed to remove tissue due to the delay. She even told us, “If you don’t like it, leave.” At 8:30 PM, a new doctor arrived and finally started the procedure. They called late at night, after we were in bed, saying we needed to pick her up immediately or pay a $40 overnight fee. Originally, They stated that there was no hospitalization fee, the fee wouldn't change depending on how long it took to care for her. Throughout, the staff continued to call her the wrong name, were dismissive, and showed no compassion. To top it off, I didn't get discharge information. No information on how to care for her wound, info on follow up appointments. They had me pay, gave me a bag of meds, and literally swung the front door open, Hitting her cone with the door, and scaring her, then slammed the door once we were through. I understand emergencies cause delays, but 8 hours with no basic care is unacceptable. If you can’t staff properly, don’t claim to be 24/7. I’ll be sharing this experience to warn others—no one should endure this level of neglect and disrespect. I've never been spoken down to like this in my life. If a receptionist would have just given an update, we would have been happy. 'Hey, we're slammed, we're moving slower than we thought, we'll get to her by this evening' that's all that was required. The exam rooms were dirty, there was urine puddles and blood on the floor from previous patients. Not a sterile or clean environment. It smelled like mildew. Not a clean hospital environment. I called my regular vet to make a follow up appointment, request her records, and hopefully get her bandages off. My regular vet stated they will no longer recommend this hospital to future patients.
Our dog needed surgery on his leg & the Dr was wonderful explaining the options and procedures. They did a great job and our nervous guy was comfortable with the staff-they were all great with him & he was comfortable there. He stayed overnight after surgery so they could monitor him. We got texts & photos on his progress until about 10 pm! He is still recovering-check up X-ray this week but he’s doing well. We were very pleased with the service-they made a point to make both us AND our dog comfortable with the process. Thank you 🙏🏼
Staff was friendly and competent. Pricing was fair and reasonable. Provided a few snacks which was a nice touch. Do not come here if you’re at all in a hurry as they do not seem to staff properly. We brought our dog in at 7 AM and didn’t take her home until after 6 PM. Our dog got imaging and blood work done which should not have taken more than a couple hours. It’s not reasonable to have one vet for as many dogs that came in.
The staff at Mountain West are incredibly professional, empathetic, and helpful. They are well staffed and got us in and out within an hour. It was evident from the moment we walked in that the employees genuinely care about the animals coming in to their clinic. Dr. Wang walked us through all of the treatment options available for our dog and never pressured us on which route to take. Pricing is extremely reasonable compared to most emergency vets, especially given we went on a weekend. My wife and I felt relieved that our dog was in such good hands after he had dealt with a medical emergency earlier that day. I will be taking all of my pets here and I highly encourage anyone looking for emergency vet care to let these guys handle the emergency.
I could not be more pleased with my experience here. I was borderline hysterical when I took my boy in Petey but left in a much better state. Everyone from front desk reception to the doctors were kind, compassionate, and efficient. What was supposed to be an hour to two hour wait was much less but even if it was two hours I am confident things were and are being ran efficiently. They don’t push unnecessary tests and costs and only suggest what they fairly deem necessary. I’ll be bringing all three of my fur babies here for any emergencies and feel confident they will treat both me and my dogs and cat respectfully. The facility is also new and they have snacks and drinks for nervous and emotional eaters like me!
We brought our dog in on a Saturday morning with a serious puncture wound to the chest and lung. They had him taken care of in a few hours. He was in amazing care for 5 days. They treated us fairly and gave him the care we could afford. As we have brought him in for follow-up visits, he has been excited to come and happy to be here. Thank you for the amazing care of our sweet Hank!
I wish I had the names of every single staff member that was working last night at midnight because I would shout praises from the mountaintops of each of them. This was probably the best vet experience I’ve ever had. From the moment I arrived to the moment I left, I felt cared about. They have so much compassion and were so kind. They had multiple options for payment and the prices seemed extremely fair. I remember when they came in to give me the estimate I was holding my breath and then had a massive sigh of relief when it was less than half of what I was expecting. The facility is large, comfortable, and extremely clean, and they have snacks and drinks for you while you wait. I have already recommended them to several friends and family. 10/10 for Mountain West.
Absolutely terrible. I will never be trusting these people with my dog ever again. Long story short, I took my dog in with an injured paw and left three hours later with her having two injured paws because of the incompetence of this staff. My dog, Great Dane, slipped on the ice and cracked one of her nails and damaged the quick so she started bleeding. The lobby had multiple urine puddles and the garbage can is full of bags of dog poop so it stinks if you sit on that side of the lobby. The nurse took us back to our room and we waited for 2 hours until we saw someone again. I get it, its an ER, so there is a wait, totally understandable. But maybe just a heads up from someone when they put us in the room? Some communication on would be very helpful. Regardless, they came and got her so they could patch her up. After another 45 min, they came back and said that my dog wouldnt let them cut her nails, she was fighting and flailing her legs, so they needed to sedate her. She has gotten her nails done numerous times at the groomer and has NEVER had an issue nor has she had any issues when Ive done it myself. Either way, I gave permission to do the sedation so they could clip her nails and bandage her paw. They gave us antibiotics and sent us on our way. No discharge paperwork, no instructions on how to care for the wounds, no instruction on when to remove her bandage, no instruction on meds (was told the instructions were on the bottles), no info on when she was last given her pain meds, didnt even get a receipt after I paid because the printer was broken. I got home and I noticed she was bleeding all over, again! I look at her back paw (we went in for her front paw), and the vet had cut her nail too short and damaged the quick on that paw! So I had to go to the store and get bandages and a wrap for that foot. So, I paid $550 for them to give her a crappy manicure and cause MORE damage than when we went in. Overall, the service was terrible, the nurses were rude, they have no idea how to communicate with patients, and cant fix a simple broken nail. I will absolutely never come back to this place and would absolutely not trust my dog with these people, again.
We just had the worst experience I think I have ever had in a place of business at the Bluffdale location, and we didn t even get past the waiting room. We took our dog to an urgent vet clinic and they sent us to Mountain West in Bluffdale. When we walked in, no one was at the front desk. Rae came in after a few minutes and asked what we came in for. I told her the urgent vet clinic sent us over. She said (rudely) But what do you need to be seen for? I started explaining that our dog has been breathing rapidly and was lethargic and before I could finish, Rae interrupted me and said, Her panting right now? I said no and asked if I could finish explaining. She sat down, seemingly put out and looked at me so I could finish. I went on explaining that our dog has been lethargic, yelping, in pain, can hardly walk or get up stairs, hasn t been eating or drinking much and has been breathing rapidly for a week. I started to explain that our dog got shots a little over a week ago and before I could finish my sentence, she said I don t care about that. I said, You don t care about what? And she replied That your dog got vaccines. I told her I was trying to explain that we had called our vet earlier in the week and they thought it could be a reaction to the shots, and they prescribed a pain killer but now that it has been going on so long, we are worried. I said she was still doing poorly and we went to the urgent vet who noticed something with her heart and suggested we bring her over to MW. She asked what the other clinic said about her heart and I said they just told us it wasn t normal. She then said the person who does echocardiograms isn t there and that there is a 2-3 hour wait. The tone of her voice, facial expressions and attitude throughout this entire conversation made us feel entirely unwelcome and uncomfortable. She had a chip on her shoulder before I even opened my mouth. I don t know how the care would have been for our dog, but if the front desk staff is that rude, we decided not to stay. 24-hour vet s might be doing us a favor by being there when our regular vet isn t, but that doesn t give them the right to treat us with such disrespect. I was shocked by her behavior. I can t even sufficiently put into words how rude she was. . Do better Rae!
Excellent service. Very informative. Took great care of our pup. Highly recommend.
Love this place. Of course on a weekend our dog chewed all of her stitches out from a previous procedure. We were in and out in 30 minutes and we were pleasantly surprised at the reasonable pricing. If I ever need ER care again, I will go here. Sabrina Wu was AWESOME!
Mountain west is absolutely amazing!!! They saved our kittens life last night!! Every person there was kind, helpful and absolutely amazing!!! They talked us through everything, gave us options and took care us us at the same time. And their prices are very reasonable. I wil recommend them over and over!!!!
They are really about the service and are great! Thank you for taking care of us in our time of need, through a horrible time! Honest, caring, and fair! @Medvet take note on how to treat people and their pets..
I had a terrible experience. 6 hours of waiting around not knowing whats going on. To find out they didnt think i was a priority and made me wait. Like, ok were not priority, then at least tell me so I dont have to sit in that room forever. Just some simple communication. Come on guys.
Needed some specialized help for our dog. We found it at Mountain West Veterinary Specialist. All of the staff were wonderful, knowledgeable, and compassionate not just to our dog but caring for our family also. I would recommend them as a place you can trust your family pet.
Beyond grateful for an emergency veterinary service on the south end of the SL valley that seems to have people who truly care. In total our experience with this facility was about 4 hours, with the most extensive waiting being to see the vet. Despite being quick with our visit but Dr. Simmons didn t make us feel rushed & was so kind. Intake was easy, the doctors tech Aly was kind & thorough with our discharge instructions. Beautiful facility & I truly hope this clinic stays in the area despite at times some facilities having to close.
Brought my dog in at 10pm one night. I asked what the vet recommended and got a bad diagnosis. They eventually fixed the issue after I brought the dog back the second time.
Thank you to the staff here that took such good care of my puppy. They did absolutely everything they could, for it to only cost a few hundred dollars. I happy to say my puppy is happy and healthy thanks to them.
Shout out to Mountain West Veterinary Clinic for the amazing care they gave our big puppy!! He s 7 months old but he s a big boy who plays hard and lands hard. They took amazing care of him and I m so glad he ll be ok! Dr. Jessica was so great and made sure we had ALL possible options.
Vet staff are knowledgeable, compassionate and true animal lovers. you made our Akira healthier after her failed pregnancy. Godspeed
They were amazing even tho is was somewhere at 11 pm night and almost ever vent was closed by me they were a lifesavers for my little puppy girl! they checked in my 2 month old puppy in almost immediately and they are so helpful and everyone working was so nice I would 100% recommed this place
Dr Wu was very attentive and quick to spring into action. We brought our sweet Bella into the clinic at 2 am and we were treated immediately. Bella immediately received relief from her pain. Dr Wu was very real with us and answered all of our questions. When the unfortunate decision was made to Euthanize Bella the staff was all very kind. They let us spend as much time as we needed with our girl. The cost was also very fair considering it was an after hours visit. We will return in the future and recommend Dr. Wu to all our friends and family. Thank you for helping us during this very difficult time.
I recently had a procedure done on my dog at Mountain West Veterinary Specialists in Bluffdale, Utah, and I couldnt be more impressed with the care and attention we received. From the initial consultation with Dr. Bruce VanEnkevort to the surgery performed by Dr. Ryan Demianiuk, every step of the process was handled with the utmost professionalism and compassion. The surgery technicians, Christina Sharp and Kylie Rodriguez, were exceptional, providing above and beyond care. I was particularly amazed by the evening texts I received, updating me on how my boy was doing. This level of individual attention made me feel like he was truly getting the presidential treatment. The clinics facilities are top-notch, providing a clean, modern, and welcoming environment that put both me and my dog at ease. I highly recommend Mountain West Veterinary Specialists for their outstanding service and dedication to their patients. Thank you to the entire team for taking such great care of my dog!
Love this place!
We have so much gratitude for everyone here. Dr Wang and Emily especially expressed such heartfelt compassion and care.
I will always recommend this hospital to everyone who is know the staff that took care of our family dog patches where amazing and wonderful even when thing turned for the worst for my furry baby boy they all huged us and let us take as mich time as we needed before taking him to Wasatch family pet who has amazing cost for familys who want keepsakes and ashes of your love animal I cant thank you guys enough for what you did and the tech natasha who took care off him both when he came in and until he crossed over the rainbow bridge thank you so much for everything you did for my family
This place is amazing. Amazing staff amazing people so friendly so clean and sanitary and I felt safe leaving our cat there, heres our story. We found a stray cat who got hit on the side of our road in our neighborhood and so we stayed with it until we gained its trust mind you it took a while. At first she was terrified and had trust issues. she was a bit aggressive she would meow and hiss and try to limp away saddest thing ever. We ended up getting our neighbor Issac shout out to Issac we got her into the pet carrier and me and my family cared for her until the Pet Urgent Care in our city Orem, Utah Opened. Never go there EVER. The staff is terrible and the vet is worse she was so rude and was spitting us off $3,000 before she even saw the cat very unprofessional and rude. Anyway that place is not what were here to talk about. This place in Bluffdale is amazing I would for sure take the drive to come down here rather than go to the other place. they took our cat right away. They werent aloud to give us info about the stray cat because of the law but thats ok. We will be adopting the cat tomorrow through the county but thats not their fault what so ever theyre just doing there job. Thank you so much Mountain West Veterinary Specialist you guys are amazing and I couldnt thank you so much for your kindness and willingness to help this poor cat!. -Lani Nielson
First visit here was a week ago, everyone was helpful, professional, and attentive. 5 stars for Dr. Simmons and Natasha for taking time from a very busy evening to help me when I was at the end of my rope with stress and frustration from caring for my sick cat. It meant a lot!
