Will be going to a different practice. Sad I have been going there for years. Also they no longer offer veterans or senior discount.

South mountain pet care is exceptional. Our ridgeback is very nervous at the vet, and I have never seen her so relaxed and happy to meet all of the staff before. We had a pregnancy accident when her daycare lied to us about having intact males on the premises. Unfortunately, we needed an emergency spay. South mountain pet care was extremely professional, accommodating and compassionate. They made us feel confident that she was in the right hands. The surgery went very smooth, and the vet took the time to talk through all of the details and answer any questions we have after the fact. I have been a dog owner all my life, and rescued several dogs so I have been through many dog surgeries. I have never seen a dog heal so quickly, and so painlessly as this spay surgery. Thanks again South Mountain Pet Care! We are truly appreciative and our pup is happy and healthy once again.

My boyfriend was tasked to come here from Colorado. South Mountain made everything smooth sailing for him, and he was beyond grateful they accommodated him helping him get out of town a few hours earlier than anticipated so he could just begin his trek home. Horrible, Just like last year they were off once again and put a smile on their faces saying there s always next year. Pretty obvious they re trying hard to limit the amount of reproduction for certain breeds, guessing to keep their back door breeding business good? Not saying don t use them, just use common sense.

Had over $500 in Test done this year on our Tea Cup Golden doodle,, $250 last year there Professional opinion was for me to come in every other day and pay tons of money only for them to have her p numbers skyrocket too much to breed year after year.. Just seems weird anytime a designer dog goes in for reproduction, they have there numbers off often. Have heard this from one or two others.. it s a good way to breed personally at lower levels. . Im very curious how many people they do this too. Not saying not to use them but just be sure they don t take advantage of you like they did us. Thanks.

Thief s! How are you going to charge someone for an ultrasound when an ultrasound was NEVER performed? SMH. I can t believe I trusted this place. No reason to steal from an innocent person. No reason to lie either. Civil court will be involved. My dog NEVER left my sight and I got charged for an ultrasound????? PATHETIC. I call and call to try to get answers and Krystal just beats around the bush! My dog NEVER left my eyesight and I m being told my dog got an ultrasound performed so when I ask for documentation to prove it they have NOTHING. Apparently when the ultrasound doesn t show anything they don t print out any copies??? Make it make sense! Just taking $90 from a person who was barely able to come up with the appointment money in the first place. Man I feel so defeated that I m thinking since I never went back for my dogs ultrasound I would get those $90 back only to hear that an ultrasound was supposedly already done on the first day? Why would I even lie about it if it was done I would accept it but for you to try to take advantage of an honest hard working person is NOT okay. BBB needs to hear about this too and they will once I beat this case. I got the time and the resources I will not stay seated and let another person like me get taken advantage of. Not okay at all. I ll be posting this review on all social media sites they need to know who NOT to trust with their pets and money.

Excellent team and service. We had a puppy in so much distress, first litter we had and we were worried and didn t know what was going on. Dr. Gavin was so helpful and quick to ensure puppy was healthy and just needed some adjustments to welping box and some gas medicine. Also gave us lots of advice. Every single person I interacted with was very kind and helpful. Elizabeth was so helpful to schedule my puppies the same day I called. Dr G was very informative and took every precaution. The tech that took us to the exam room was kind enough to clean the exam table again to put our minds at ease with having such young puppies.

Local licensed breeder here, and before the year 2020, south mountain was a great help. After covid, our relationship turned strange. Ended with their staff refusing to perform a scheduled progesterone test because, well, ethically I asked around with my other fellow breeders and we all use another local reproductive vet now.

Love the Drs and staff They have been taken by care if our dogs for 20+ years.

Our Boston Terrier had an emergency C-section & this team exceeded all expectations. We were able to keep the only female pup & we plan to breed her in the next few years.

NOT breeder friendly. AFTER my stud owner collected the clinic informed me they do NOT ship to breeders. I had to have it shipped to a vet or the fedex depot. I am in a rural location and the nearest breeder friendly vet is 2 hours in good weather. So I had to have it sent to the fedex depot. With the weather today that was an hour and a half trip for me. That also meant I didn t know when the package arrived and couldn t plan for it, made worse by the clinic not sending a tracking number. I also couldn t send someone else to pick up the package since it had to be signed by me, which meant I had no flexibility in my day. The clinic states they have had breeders say they didn t receive the package, but that could easily be solved by a signature on delivery requirement as it s the SAME signature on the SAME. FedEx device as at the FedEx depot. I DO NOT recommend this clinic.

Dr Pew has so much knowledge. Someone you can always trust to do the right thing. Dr Gavin is caring and always pleasant and professional. I ve been with them for 40 years

not what it used to be

I have been a long time customer of Carl Pew at both of offices. A couple of years ago Lucy took a tumble off a terrace and nearly bled to death. The emergency clinic we initially took her to got her fluid level up via an IV but could not figure out why she didnt snap out of it. We then took her the next day to Carl and he correctly diagnosed her massive blood loss, lungs partially filled, and possible rupture of her diaphragm. She was well taken care of and is healed from that incident. We have three bullies and we always insist on Carl Pew being the vet. I wonder about other reviewers and their account of what happened, as you might mine. I know of his fame with ear cropping. If he had made a diagnosis, after so many thousands of operations, I would bank on it. If you had doubts, get a second opinion. Lucy is nearing 12 years old, and Carl Pew will be our primary counsel on her senior issues. It is an emotional time bringing your beloved family member in for care, and judgements are not necessarily objective. Finally, we cannot double blind a vet. Another vets diagnosis might have arrived at the same conclusion, there is no reboot when it comes to life. Weve also used Dr Pew and his office for two inseminations, prenatal care, and C-sections. All of the procedures and litters are doing well.

They told me if I was not on time they would not be able to take my dog for his appointment. I sat in my car for 40 min waiting for them to be ready to take him (this happened at both drop off and pickup). I didn t have a printer at home so I called and asked them to print my forms that I had already filled out so I could sign when I got there. The receptionist was so disrespectful and very catty and kept cutting me off and wouldn t let me finish and just kept saying they had already done that for me. Turns out when they came out for me to sign my forms they didn t print off the ones I had already filled out and emailed to them and expected me to refill out everything again a 2nd time. These were all pretty long forms. They don t pick up until about the 8th time you call each time, when I arrived to drop off and pick up it happened both times. The line is either busy or they have a recording telling you to call later. There is hardly any parking, there was people parking on the street and in other company s parking lots and the employees would have to go out and walk and get people pets from that far away. They told me they would call me when my dog was finished with his exam and they never did. I had to call and they told me he had been done for a while at that point. The whole experience was pretty frustrating..

We had a very unfortunate experience at our first visit to get a check up and progesterone test. Because of covid we were waiting in our car, the tech came out and she literally drug my dog by her leash across the parking lot. It was horrifying. My girl was just nervous to be at the vet. Needless to say, that was our first and last appt. There are plenty of vets in the Salt Lake Valley who can help with your dogs reproductive needs, look elsewhere!

Dont bother calling. They will NOT answer the phone, no matter how many times it rings.

The vets are great, when I get to see them. The staff is usually very nice and friendly. But can be difficult to get an apt. They are extremely busy!

Had a mishap with a lab test that took a few days longer than expected. Dr. Pew and his staff was very apologetic and refunded my bill in full. Very impressed with south Mountain pet car. Will definitely be using this facility again. Thank you Dr Pew

I was told that South Mountain was the place to take your dog for ear cropping. Seeing many pics of puppies with ears cropped beautifully on their google search, I gave them a call. I explained to the unpleasant woman who answered that we did not crop the ears of our late Pressa Canario which resulted in chronic ear problems and discomfort until his last breath. It was heartbreaking. In order to avoid this we have opted to have our new puppy s ears cropped. I was lectured about how cropping is strictly aesthetic and told that they won t perform the surgery leaving me feeling disrespected and shamed. The AKC states clearly that they recognize ear cropping as prescribed in certain breed standards, an acceptable practice integral to enhancing good health, and preventing injuries. Mislabeling the procedure as cosmetic is a severe mischaracterization that connotes a lack of respect and knowledge of history and the function of many breeds. A vet clinic should know better. I respect their right to not perform the surgery but the lecture was unwarranted.

My Entlebuchers have docked tails, and the Vet that docked my last litter did the worst job in all of my thirty-eight litters. I asked Dr. Pew if he could fix the little girl I was keeping? You should see her, she has the most PERFECT tail in the whole Entle world - and best of all never acted like the surgery hurt for a minute! She was practicing wagging it on our way home! As I have said a million times over the twenty-seven years Dr. Pew has taken care of me and my Entles, If you want it done right, and done so kindly, go see Dr. Pew!!

I have been coming to South Mountain Pet Care since 2006 when I bred my first champion Havanese. Since that time, my visits are a lot more frequent with five or more litters a year. With the help of Drs. Pew and Gavin and their wonderful, friendly and knowledgeable vet techs and staff, I get beautiful healthy litters to choose the next generation of Beseme Havanese to show and eventually breed, along with loving and healthy pets. I have absolutely no reservations about highly recommending South Mountain Pet Care and Repro Clinic. On a scale of one to ten, they are a twenty!

These guys are awesome when it comes to reproductive care. Walked me very thoroughly through every step. Took so much of my anxiety away about the whole process. Highly recommend.

Had a really bad experience with this vet after coming here for years and being a loyal customer, without going into too much details once they were made aware of the whole situation they made things right and sincerely apologized for the experience and assured me I would never have another like that. I really appreciate them for acting as if they truly care about their loyal customers and want you to leave happy every time you visit. Can t say that about every vet out there. Thanks to Dr. Kolbaba for taking his time to make us feel appreciated as customers. We use this vet for EVERYTHING, (TCI s/inseminations, c-sections, shots, puppy health checks, and ESPECIALLY EAR CROPS) they are the best in the state at what they do, they know you and your dogs by name if you visit frequently, and they have a very clean and professionally kept office. I recommend them to anyone who buys puppies from me because they know their breeds and they truly act as if they care. Best in the state at ear cropping as well, can t recommend them enough.

Called at around noon, Doberman puppy still had not gone to ear crop surgery. All morning with out water, staff unconcerned. Vet and I discussed ear crop options, I asked for medium, got medium show crop, little spike ears. Vet cut off 2/3 of his ears, and gave him three Rimadyl for pain. So much pain and bleeding, unlike previous Doberman - but that was 20 years ago when things were more hi.ane. Now his ears are noticable two different sizes. Total botch job.

Ive been here for two different dobermans to have their ears cropped. They arent very flexible on pricing and some other things, and wont go out of their way to help you out. But theyre fair, transparent, and did a great job on the ear crop.

This is what this place did to my Dobie, my opinion being that I ve never been here before when I did. They were amazing won t lie about it. They worked with me even after all this going on with the Covid going on. Others wouldn t take me. Highly recommend this place specially if it has anything to do with cropping ears. Their pricing isn t bad either $500 for cropping.

I was told by a local vet that my dog needed emergency surgery with IV antibiotic therapy. I didn t feel their evaluation was thorough and thankfully Dr Pew worked us in late in the afternoon for a second opinion. After a complete and thorough work up, Dr Pew did not agree with the diagnosis and was able to treat my dog medically. Grateful to avoid an unnecessary surgery and for the wonderful care we received. I can t say enough good things about my experience with Dr. Pew and South Mountain Clinic. It was also very reasonably priced care as well!

This company is good quality for their doctors, just the front office isn t up to par. We made an appointment once at the Draper location (the only location we ve been to) and they had scheduled it for their other office in Lehi. So that was annoying. But their doctors are wonderful and helpful

Fast, well organized, need to get the instructions off the front office door for number to text letting the office know you have arrived. Wait to text until the office is open or they wont pickup the ones sent prior to the office opening.

I have been a customer for Several years, even when they were in Orem. Now they will not see my pet, only to refer me to their Lehi location. I was told if I email them they possibly may be able to squeeze me in! No, I want to go there and I dont want to have to beg to have my pets medical needs taken care of, via email!! I love Dr. Gavin and if they were changing to only reproduction services then we should have been notified, in some way....could have sent me an email! This is very unprofessional and incredibly inconvenient.

Horrible staff. They made several owners sit in their cars for 30 minutes because they were too lazy to repeat care instructions. I think their intention was to drag us all into a small room where we werent social distanced because the 60 seconds it takes to explain how to care for our dogs was too much for them to repeat. Worst vet ever.

Good pet care advice but a lil expensive to actually have any work done

A night mare for my Doberman! Dr. Carl Pew claims to be a great crop ears dr ... horrible experiance I brought my puppy at 10 week old to get their ears crop !!! Dr. Carl Pew damage his cartilage . Performed 2 reconstruction sur= geries and ask me to bring it back 4 months to fix it ! so I did call and now he is saying 6 mo but that at this point is not fixable .. he is not taking any responsibility for damaging the nerves or cartilages. When the rest= of the litter is doing great ! Funny that on his page you will see pictures of Dobermans with perfectly crop ears. My beautiful Doberman looks like if he has a problem because his ears just lays in the top of his head

Best Reproduction vet around!

I have been coming here for years and have always been treated so well. The doctors and staff are extremely professional and treat their customers the way they should. They have high end equipment and technology and never cut any corners. Their office is always clean. We drive an hour to see them and they are well worth the drive.

This is our first puppy needing ears cropped. Our breeder uses and recommends South Mountain Pet Care to all his new puppy parents. (He drives an hour and a half) They have been very supportive and understanding of my 15 year old daughter who we bought the Cane Corso for. Vets, techs and office have been absolutely wonderful. We drive almost an hour to get to them and we follow up once a week, or twice if there is a problem. A 12 week old Corso does not like to wear his stints and will pull them off on occasion when he gets away from us. South Mountain staff got us right in and fixed him up, they were great about it, didnt lecture us (They warned us after surgery he is a powerful puppy and it will be hard to keep his hat on and stints in place.) and minimal charges for the stints. They have helped us keep up on his vaccinations and identity chipping during our process. I wouldnt go anywhere else for breeding either. We have gotten to know many veteran breeders in the waiting room that use these folks to reproduce high end puppies, bulldogs, bullies are always in the office in different stages of breeding and all the clients say they would never go anywhere else for breeding either. Lots of doberman and Cane Corso pups getting ear cropped and a plethora of breeds in for breeding and health check ups. Its been a fun place to go once or twice a week, everyone had great things to say about South Mountain Pet Care!!

I live 3 hours away and they work really hard to get my appointments worked out so I can make the drive in one day. They are very helpful on all my breeding needs. You cant go wrong going there for your females and males.

They are a great place to take your fur babies!! I trust them with my show/ working dogs, they have never let me down! Very knowledgeable and they go out of theyre way to make sure they do everything possible. Highly recommended!

i drove a long distance and would not have an appointment and sometimes my wait time was almost an hour. The staff was nice . My follow up was with a vet tech. I wished there could have been a doctor available for consultation

We brought our mini schnauzer in to get her ears cropped, the staff is very welcoming and thorough on their explanation of what to expect. Our pup is doing great and her ears are looking outstanding. I highly recommend this facility for pet care in all aspects.

Disappointed. they do not take new clients at all. Was hoping to go there with my new puppy as its the closest to home but they referred me to another clinic as they dont take normal clients. Wish it said that on their website as I did a lot of investigation before deciding to go here. Oh well, Ill start over again and will have to driver further out I guess....

We just switch to using south mountain within the last two months and already they seem like they know there stuff. I will continue to use them even though they are about 20 miles from where we live. They are very nice and quick with all four of our appointment we ve had so far.

First time here for dew claw and tail removal on six Kerry Blue Terrier Puppies. The facility was squeaky clean. Quiet. Staff was wonderful and they did an outstanding job making sure all my needs were met. They were quick and did not keep mom and babies waiting or keep babies away from mom very long. Very impressed and well worth the long drive to this locations. Will recommend this place to anyone looking for reproduction/puppy care.

Great place. The staff is very friendly and Dr. Pew is so knowledgeable and professional. I went in for a minor procedure for my dog which ended up revealing a life threatening condition. Not only did Dr. Pew help to save my dogs life by doing though exam of him pre-surgery, but he did it quickly, efficiently and kindly in a way that made bad news easier to handle. Not only that, but he aIso wrote a letter to the breeder explaining the condition and explained to me what some standards were for approaching a breeder with this information. This was very helpful as a first-time dog owner. I would definitely recommend South Mountain and Dr. Pew.

Sad to see a puppy with freshly cropped ears being given back to the owner upon walking in. I dont really want to support a company that allows that kind of mutilation. The front desk staff also seemed to not care at all about anything going on. The vet & assistants were kind, though.

Horrible experience! The doctors and staffs are unprofessional there, they dont care about customer service. Their working ethic are horrible. They lies and only see money. They make many mistake, but dont step up and take care of their mistake. Dont recommend this vet, they dont look after the customer interest, only out to get your money.

Customer service is less than one. The vet just needs to die or retire. He dont care anymore. Hes a chope shop and they dont back up there word. Good luck if you deal with these people. I wont go to a vets office that had hired any of these people.

We took our Golden Doodle here and had a fantastic experience. Golden Doodles are famous for being nervous but the assistants knew exactly what to do. They took the time to get to know our dog and didnt try to force her to do anything. Once our dog was comfortable they proceeded as usual. Ian Kolbaba was our vet. He took the time to answer our 100s of questions. Our dog was very comfortable around him. By far the best place to take pets. I will always come here.

We had our Dobermans ears cropped here and are going through the posting process. I have no complaints at all. Easy and convenient, fast and friendly. Will be bringing the next Doberman back here no questions asked.

Absolutely the BEST veterinary care my dogs have ever received. All 3 doctors--Carl Pew, Ian Kolbaba, and Heather Gavin--are top notch docs and amazing people. For ANYTHING reproduction related, and anything that needs specialized attention or testing, this is my GO TO place. I cant say enough good about them, or their awesome staff.

Experienced more bad experiences with this place than good. Our Dobies ears were cropped well but follow up care has been sub par and we will no longer return. Each posting after the cropping is done has a charge which is fine but the problem is that some assistants do not do a good enough job. 3 occasions we had posts go wrong NOT due to our dobie, 1 occasion causing sores (ears were kept dry). Even though posting was done incorrectly they always charged us again. Posting is done on a walk in basis but today on a regular business day we show up 20 min before closing time and they are closed early for a party. We never knew because they don t schedule postings. Overall just a big disappointment. I don t have time to come back down before Christmas because I live an hour away and his ears can t be down that long so I will be finishing the postings myself.

Amazing vet. Very easy to make appointments and almost no wait time in office. Vets are very friendly and even give an emergency after hours number. They specialize in reproductive care of animals, so this was the perfect place to take my pregnant dog

The staff is the best. Our little Boston Terrier just had puppy s and they had to do a cesarean on her to get the puppies out not to mention it was on a Sunday away from their family. I can t say enough about DR Kolbaba as he never pushed us into anything and explained everything to us to make sure our dog was taken care of. They have gained a customer for life. I would also recommend DR Kolbaba to all my friends and family. Please keep up the AWESOME work and treating your customers like family.

I cant say enough positive and I wish I could give them so many more stars. I can always count on Dr. Kolbaba And Dr. Gavin to take care of my babies, Dr. P is always in the background somewhere working his magic as well. They have met me at the office at 1 am and they have squeezed me in a busy schedule. Had a medical emergency today and I was seen right away, all my questions addressed and all of my fears put to ease. Financially, they dont gouge. This vet goes above and beyond and then some and makes your pet their priority NOT your wallet. I will never go anywhere else. If you are looking for a vet that cares this is the place. Their front office staff are wonderful ladies. Always smiling and friendly.

Dr. Pew is great does an amazing job, I took my first puppy named Blanco 15 years ago and his ears were cropped to perfection. Blanco passed away in April of this year, we now have another puppy Named Raider and took him to Dr. Pew as well Dr. Pew and his staff are committed to perfection!!!!!!

I took my pitbull to get his ears done and I was very nervous as it was a new vet for us. I was very pleased with them. The girl and the front desk was very sweet and the doctor called me after my dogs surgery and explained every thing and then the day after we picked him up I got a 2nd call from the doctor as a follow up. I was very happy with the staff and the doctor and have sent a few people to him. We get tons of comments on Kahunas ears. Thanks guys!!

Took my very pregnant Papillon to have an ultrasound. We thought she may be aborting her litter. Dr Gavin was very caring and informative. She found 2 healthy heartbeats and 9 days later, my female delivered 2 healthy pups. I would recommend them highly for reproductive care.

Dr. Kolbaba is awesome! I took both of my shih tzus in for their annual checkup/vaccines and I was really concerned about a couple lumps that I had found on them. Dr. Kolbaba was very caring towards them and gave them an extremely thorough full body checkup, probably the best one that they have ever received. He was extremely knowledgeable about every question I had. Best Vet i have seen to date.

I am absolutely shocked at how terribly rude Briana is that answers the phone at the South Mountain Pet Center. I am so incredibly happy I called & experienced her before just blindly setting an appointment. I recently moved to the Utah area in late February. My Maltese-mix is moving out this weekend. Her health & care is of the utmost importance to me. Ive been researching Vets and boarding options in the area and unfortunately made South Mountain Pet Care my first call. Briana is extremely rude. If this place is that rude to humans who can actually voice their feelings, imagine how they treat your animal(s).

Dr Kolbaba DVM: He and the clinic were recommended by an AKC Judge and K9 guru in Utah county, The Judge has 30 years of experience with thousands of dogs and dozens of Vets. Her recommendation proved accurate. Definitely worth the drive to South Mountain Clinic. [located behind Petersen Marine] Dr. Kolbaba spent 30 minutes+ talking over Lucys issues. Fatty Tumor, Seizures, and Hip Dysplasia. Did a needle biopsy for a low charge. Did a blood test for Phenobarbital and Liver test, also reasonable cost. Dr Kolbaba is even going to contact a hip dysplasia rehabilitation colleague in North Carolina about some advanced hip support devices.

I brought my 12 year old shitzu in with a bad ear infection and a skin infection. After speaking with the doctor it was decided that I should put my dog down. She had no quality of life. She had lost all of her teeth, threw up 3 times a day, couldnt move without my help to get her outside and was miserable. He wasnt sure we could successfully treat the ear and skin infection. She was taken to the back and then a vet aide came and questioned why I was putting her down. She thought I should rehome her. I broke down in tears. Do they think I made this decision without any feeling. I had raised her from a pup and she was my sweet dog. How could they think I would put my friend down. How could they come in and question me after making such a difficult decision. I will never return here. Horrible feeling today about all of this

It has been many years since we had a puppy/dog so finding a new vet can be stressful. I saw a mix of reviews and actually had a heard a few negatives from my neighbors about this not being the most compassionate place for owners so was a tad nervous but decided to give it a shot as I already had my appointment booked, luckily this was not my experience at all. I thought the front desk, the assistants and the vet were great. One negative is that I had a hard time getting a hold of them on the phone but did email and got a very detailed response and even a follow up from Hannah who was very professional and very helpful. She recommended their newer doctor Dr. Kolbaba. He was delightful. He was running behind and still seemed very at ease to answer all of my ridiculous puppy questions and also was so sweet to take the time to bond with my sweet Piper to make her feel comfortable for her shots. I dont have experience with the other doctors and will probably just stick with Dr. Kolbaba but I had a great first experience.

I cant say enough good things. Dr Kolbaba is very compassionate, and been great with all my dogs. I have 2 Bulldogs and a Boxer, all the staff there have been very good with me. I drive from Utah county to Draper to see this Vet and its worth the drive.

Hands-down, the rudest doctor I have ever come into contact with. We took our 6-month-old German Shepherd in, to get his ears taped (to help them stand). First of all, the nurse tried to take his temperature (what dog likes a thermometer in their butthole?) and gave up, saying: well just pretend I took his temperature). You better hope my dog is not sick, or Im kicking ass. Second of all, the doctor felt my dogs ears for 2 seconds, and claimed they were never going to stand up, because he is older than 20 weeks old. Um, I have been around German Shepherds my entire life. There is not a set time, it depends solely on their teething process. My husband nicely responded: Really? Because weve been told that youre supposed to tape them after theyre done teething. Weve been informed that 8 months is when it starts to become too late (by every German Shepherd specialist ever). He then responded, VERY RUDELY, WELL, DOCTOR GOOGLE DOESNT KNOW EVERYTHING, NOW DOES HE? My husband is a Police Officer. He deals with very rude and inconsiderate people, on a daily basis. But this was unacceptable.

They are great! The are the only vet that can do progesterone tests for my dog so she can be inseminated which they also do! I love it! I drive from East Layton to bring my dog to them.

This is the worst pet clinic I have ever been to. I took my pet into the Orem office that is associated with their Draper office. My pet stayed one full night at the Orem location and then was transported to this location to undergo a surgery which was said to be that same day at 9:00am. My pet was unable to void or have a bowel movement and was also very dehydrated. They hooked him up to an IV for two whole days, which during this time he did not urinate. The surgery did not happen later that day because they had other emergencies. My pets kidneys began to back up and he went into kidney failure and we were forced to put him to sleep. My whole family was very upset and did not want to pay our bill which we felt was fare. We then had to argue with staff members for 2 hours and were told many different stories about what had actually happened. We were able to get the bill reduced to 50% off which during this time they kept our dead pet in the back office. It was complete negligence on the part of the staff. The staff took on way too many animals that day and my pet was ignored. We were told by Dr. Pew that our pet would be fine and that the surgery was very simple. WELL DR PEW WAS WRONG. I would tell anyone thinking of going to this clinic to RUN! STAY AWAY!

Our two dogs have had very few medical issues over the years, but one of our dogs recently acquired an allergy which we had been trying to figure out. He had always been a little more itchy than others of his breed, but earlier this year, it got bad. His face was getting scabbed up, and one ear tip was cut open, and we couldnt get it to heal. We were trying all kinds of homemade concoctions, but with out success. His face was looking pretty rough, so we finally broke down and decided to take him into Dr. Pew. The diagnosis was allergies, which then led to a staff infection as well as a yeast infection. Our poor guy was in rough shape. Luckily, Dr. Pew was able to get him on the right medications right away, and he went from our poor pup who wouldnt eat, to a happy, hungry, normal Ridgeback. This change was almost instant. We also have the allergies under control as a result. Two weeks later, the same dog developed a lump in his upper right gum by his fourth premolar. Dr. Pew told us it was a dried up infection, and just needed to be cut out. We thought it might be an abcess tooth, so we went to another doctor who specializes in teeth work for dogs. We booked the surgery, our dog went in, came out, the tumor-like flesh was sent to the pathology lab, and the results came back showing that it was a dried up infection exactly like Dr. Pew had told us. Our other dog has had a couple of small growths on his skin, so we decided to take him into Dr. Pew just to be safe. Dr. Pew took one look at them and said, they are warts. You can remove them, but if you do, you risk having the warts come back in groups on other parts of the body. Sometimes worse. We decided to wait on the warts, but we trust Dr. Pew, and I would not be ashamed to promote him any day of the week.

Dr Pew and his staff are very professional in my opinion. I live 10 hours from them and have made the trip several times because of there outstanding expertise. They are good at what they do, and have an amazing facility! I would recommend them to anyone, for anything, but especially if you are looking for an expert on canine reproduction or ear cropping.

I abolutely LOVE South Mountain! Both Dr. Gavin and Dr. Pew are extraordinary and have always given my dogs the highest quality care. One of our puppies was in an accident and broke his leg in an area that required surgery. Dr. Pew arranged for me to drop him off after hours and then came in to place the pin in his leg. They were wonderful with that and all of our follow up care. We also had ears cropped at this clinic and Dr. Pew did a spectacular job! Dr. Gavin is great too is always available when I have questions and when something comes up they are great at getting us in the same day. My dogs race me to the door every time we go. They both love the Drs and all of the techs. Even the receptionist and office manager get loves from my pups. I recommend this clinic and both of the Drs to anyone with a pet.

I recently switched to this vet and my dogs first appointment was to get spayed. My dog is my only baby and I was terrified. The day I made the appointment and again a few days before surgery I called the office to ask some questions. I was reassured about the surgery and they spent as much time as possible explaining everything. I was not rushed at all on any calls or when I dropped her off. I even took one of her favorite toys since she had to spend the night and the vet called me to tell me she did great and stated she had her toy and was sleeping. The girls here and the vets are fantastic. I could not be happier. Pricing is about average with other vets but they appear to be more thorough then I have seen. The office is cleaner then a normal doctors office. And their operating tables and kennels are heated so your animal is comfortable. Best experience I have ever had with a vet.
