Petco Grooming in Salt Lake City

I like Petco, but sometimes they do not do the best at grooming/brushing out my high strung doggy.

Didnt catch the ladys name but if your dog barks at all, dont bother going. My dog was barking for 1 min, not agreesive at all. Not growling, no real signs of aggression and she immediately said we cant do the grooming apt. She was very rude about it also. We have taken my dog to other Petcos and no issue but here I guess so.

My appointment for a toenail trim was scheduled for 5:30pm, my receipt was timestamped as 5:40pm. I thought my dog would be a handful; however, groomer Amanda is a seasoned professional. This was a great consumer/user experience.

She treated my dog with kindness and did an excellent job on clipping and buffing his paws.

We took our 6 year old English bull dog here for the first time today and let them know right away this is his first time at the groomers so he s a little anxious. The girl that checked him in was extremely warm and friendly and said they would take their time with him since he was a little nervous. Also because he s super treat driven she said if we provide the treats she can give them to him to make it a better experience. My husband bought some treats in the store that we left with her. About 30 minutes later we get a call that he s barking and trying to nip at them when they try to get him out of the kennel so we need to come get him. I was really surprised because although this was his first time at the groomers he s been to the vet countless times with us and by himself and has never once showed signs of aggression. I was also confused bc that was the whole point of the treats. My dog will follow and love anyone with a treat. When I got there I politely asked them if they had tried to use the treats when taking him out of the kennel bc I wanted to see if we could figure out a solution so maybe I could bring him another time. One of the ladies at the front was incredibly rude and insensitive and said they don t give treats. When I told her the previous girl told us they could if we provided them she didn t say anything. She also made a rude comment about our dog being aggressive and trying to attack them. I don t want to be a naive dog parent who thinks my dog is perfect and I m happy to take responsibility for his behavior but I also think there s a sensitive way to approach that conversation that doesn t shame or embarrass the owner. Especially bc this was the first I ve ever heard that from anyone his entire life. They had me come to the back to get him and I was appalled at what I saw. They had sooo many dogs in kennels stacked on top of each other like they were in lockers and on top of it there were so many dogs barking. No wonder he was anxious and terrified! I would be too. It was extremely stressful back there. Also he s a hard of breathing type breed, he should never have been in a kennel to begin with! That s why I scheduled an apt. He could barely breathe when i got him out and he was incredibly anxious. I ve never seen him like that. Why was he having to wait in a kennel when we had a scheduled apt?? I called petsmart when we got home and they said they never put hard of breathing dogs in kennels. The employees especially the rude one that I unfortunately did not get the name really need to do better. I think they made zero effort to calm my dog down or use the treats I provided. And also you shouldn t have 20 dogs stacked on top of each other when people are scheduling apts. These employees are not qualified to be taking care of peoples pets. I was so surprised at how many negative reviews there are for this place that had a similar situation as me. I would highly recommend staying clear from this place and go to petsmart or literally anywhere else. Petco, do better.

I love that the groomers take care of my pup. Sometimes the store doesnt have a lot of items, but it is heavily visited and I love the new upgrade they did.

Absolutely terrible!! You wait days for an appointment and they wont honor it. They are super cold hearted staff and dont even care. I even showed up right on time. Theres another review on here by someone named Shelby Kawamura from 2 years ago, which describes almost exactly what I went through. Ive been to a different petco and had an entirely different experience. DO NOT GO HERE. I feel like my puppy is traumatized by the entire experience. I swear the workers there should NOT be working with animals! Really sad theat their treatment of customers and dogs hasnt changed in 2 years.

Our dog is the biggest scaredy-cat on this planet but they treated her so nice and gave her a very detailed wash and did a great job decoating her extra fur she d been shedding. very friendly people and no complaints from us!

Amanda took great care of both of my dogs! They were both so soft when I picked them up, I plan on doing this more often. I definitely suggest trying the grooming at Petco at least once. Money well spent!

Took my dog here twice for grooming. First time my dog looked horrible but it was his first time so it was understandable that they could not groom my dog properly. After several months later, I decided to give them the benefit of doubt and took him there again (My dog by now has multiple grooming session with other groomers). Even this time my dog looked horrible, honestly it was a shame to be called groomed . On top of that I noticed later that they injured my dog under his eye. Never again!

I like the service of quick, fast, kind, easy so my little one Chi is happy.

Our dog proved to be rather difficult for the groomer (Nicole) due to stress, but she handled it very well. She communicated with us regularly about his status and then made the good decision to stop the grooming and finish up the next day which made all the difference. At the end, she made excellent recommendations for how to better prepare our dog for future groomings. We appreciate the groomers patience and willingness to alter her schedule for our dogs benefit - we also appreciate her advice on how to move forward. Thank you!

Please steer clear of Nicole, I had to get my dog groomed last minute so I took her here (biggest regret) at first i was hesitant but Nicole told me she had huskies so i felt a bit relieved like I could trust her. I signed a paper saying $88 for the service, when I got there to pick up my dog they charged me $115. They called me when my dog was ready and didn t even consider to let me know in advance that I d be hit with an extra fee because there was a lot of hair . On top of that she brushed my dog raw. She had a blood patch on her leg from being brushed too hard.

Sharon didnt an outstanding job. She did exactly the cut we wanted, and was kind and gentle with our dog. I highly reccomend her!

I came in for a feet, face and fanny trim for our golden doodle pup--a $10 service that was only supposed to be for a minor clean-up...not an opportunity for her to shave our dogs entire face. I told her exactly what I wanted and even showed her a picture--she could not have done more of the opposite. Our dog looks ridiculous, I have no idea how she brought him out to me so casually. She was incredibly rude, and clearly had no idea what she was doing. This is the only time in my life I have ever been inclined to write a review; save yourself the anger and go to a place that specializes in grooming.

I was nervous about dropping Scarlet off. When I came to pick her up Sean could tell that I was her mom. He is AMAZING. We will be coming back for him. Scarlet recognizes and loves her groomer Sean. She is excited and happy to go to the groomers when he is the one.

Shawn did an amazing job on my dog. I would highly recommend him.

Ive never been so appalled by such rudeness in my life. I took my puppy in for the first time to get his nails trimmed and was immediately turned away by the old lady at the grooming area. She refused to cut his nails after she tried to put a leash on him and he cowered. She refused to try to put the leash on him again and told me that i need to take him somewhere where they can strap a muzzle on him. My puppy was unsure of the lady due to the fact that he had never met her before but the fact that she didnt try to comfort him at all, she didnt talk to him, she just charged him with a leash and proceeded to tell me he is out of control and they cant deal with that and walked away. Its a shame to see someone working with animals that simply doesnt give a f*ck about making them feel comfortable in a potentially stressful/new situation. Petco will never have my business again.

So I went to Paw by Paw last year, they wouldnt do what I asked and when I got my dog back he still had mattes, and even dried blood behind his ears. Needless to say I was shocked as they had the best reviews in the area. Well I tried Petco today for the first with with my 120lb Long haired akita. WOW! The older woman (im so sorry i cant remember her name) really did an amazing job. They were booked out about 10 days but it was well worth the wait.

Finn looked so great when the groomer was done with him. His hair was cut to the perfect length and my wife and I could tell he had a great experience.

I am VERY disappointed with the results I got. Id rather take my dog somewhere else than pay to hurt my pet this way. I paid for a # 3 Spa package plus bath and haircut for my dog and thats what I got. It was my first and last time here. PLEASE check your pets very carefully after a haircut at this location. I ll only got back if my dog gets something due to you guys negligence !!

This is the second time I had to have petco redo Sadies haircut. My last visit yesterday the groomer forgot to trim the hair on her tail. The quality of cuts is very poor.

Celina is the only person I trust to do my huge 10 year old Great Pyrenees/Malamute mix. She is kind and thoughtful as to knowing my dog is older and needs breaks here and there. I have never had a bad trim or experience with Celina.

Cost for the recent grooming almost twice what it was previously. That was a bummer. Folks were great still!
