PETCARE Animal Hospital is a high-quality veterinary practice for dogs, cats and small pets.
As far as service for humans, this place is great. I was promptly taken back when I got there with my cat. It did take over an hour for the visit but their wifi was down so I'm sure it doesn't always take that long. As far as the service towards my cat, the nurse was awful. She picked up my 14 year old cat by neck when she took her into the back for a blood sample. I'm not a vet and even I know you cause adult cats pain and stress when you do that. She then, again, "scruffed" my cat when the vet was feeling her belly. I was in the room at that point, I could have held her front. She never even asked if my cat would let her pick her up, which she would have. She never hissed or snapped during the entire exam. To me, it seemed like that "nurse" had been bitten by a cat before or just doesn’t like cats. Get cut resistant gloves before you abuse a cat. To her credit, she did offer my cat a treat after I mentioned I had forgotten to being some, and tried to see if she would eat some liquid tube food. (Which is why this is a 3-star review instead of 1.) I will still not be going back there.
I was able to get an appointment here the same day that I called. My dog was sick and needed to be seen right away. Our regular vet wouldn’t see him for a week. PETCARE got him and he started treatment right away. Thank you.
They were so loving and caring with my dog. Dr. Love gave great care and advice. I absolutely loved how transparent they were with the cost. It helped me feel informed to make decisions about my dog’s care.
Came here for the first time on a Sunday afternoon. They got my Sphynx cat in right away. The place was decorated super cute with Halloween decor. They promptly treated my cat. Did not try to push anything on us. They were super upfront with the cost of everything. Highly recommend!
My dog was labouring and in distress with a large puppy. Dr. Love and Nurse Allie volunteered to stay after closing to perform an emergency C-section. They showed great care to my dogs. I am so grateful to them. Mom and pups are home and doing well now.

Petcare has always provided my family with exceptional service during the almost seven years we've been going there. We recently got some sensitive news concerning our 14 year old pet, and they approached the topic delicately and with respect. Can't recommend them enough.

We recently had one of our dogs pass, we took the remains into PETCARE Animal hospital and paid $500 for cremation, and an urn. What I told the receptionist or whoever it was that helped me, is not what we received when we got our dogs remains back. Everything is wrong with what we received, have some compassion and pay attention to the details when someone is spending their hard earned money. What a joke and a waste of money
Bear is the biggest baby I know. Scared of literally everything but likes Petcare Animal Hospital. The staff and vet are kind and patient. I ve been going here for 3 years and have no intention of going anywhere else!
Dr. Scott Matheson and the Petcare Animal Hospital staff have been very kind, attentive and compassionate towards our pet over the years. Dr. Matheson goes out of his way to provide the best care to pets, without trying to perform unnecessary tests and procedures. Dr. Matheson is very knowledgeable and experienced and has always made sure we understood every diagnosis, prognosis and treatment. We have been very lucky to have Dr. Matheson and Petcare Animal Hospital in South Jordan staff care for our furry best friend

The care of the veterinarian and his assistants was excellent, they took care of and cured my pet, I only have one complaint and it is with the receptionist, she was somewhat indifferent to my partner and me, I dont know why, I think it was because I am Latino, I apologize if I bothered at any time, and I am grateful for taking care of my pet.

Don t let Bianca touch your cat. She ripped my senior cat in her last stages of kidney failure out of her carrier, No care for her condition. The follow up text we receive was by far one of the rudest, I told them how we had tried with all the medication they gave us and she was still struggling, Erica responded with Sounds like she doesn t have quality of life. We will never be back. 0 stars
My review is coming in months after I took my dog here, but after some recent amazing vet experiences elsewhere I feel inclined to leave a review of my experience here. I took my 4 year old dachshund here for an eye problem. I had a couple of diagnoses in mind after googling all of my dogs symptoms and told them to the vet. After maybe 5 minutes of an exam the vet he told me the diagnosis I suspected was correct but said I ve seen this before in a Labrador and it was caused by cancer, so I suspect this is cancer. We should do x-rays, blood work, etc. etc. I was instantly in distress sobbing as I was really blindsided by being told something so horrible so abruptly. Being told this instantly made me spiral and I couldn t think logically and ask all of the questions I wanted to, but I knew I did not have the money to pay for all of what the vet was saying they needed to do. As I was expecting to be given medication for my dog and be sent on way I could only think to ask if there was anything I could give him to clear up what was going on his eye for now, and I was sent home with some medications. After getting home and calming down I realized just how manipulative and in my opinion, EVIL it was to tell me definitively it was cancer when a simple google search tells me his eye problem was a symptom of MANY different diagnoses which the vet did not bring up. The whole experience with the vet was so insensitive, the exam didn t feel thorough, and there was barely even a discussion with him before a cancer diagnosis was thrown at me. Truly an awful traumatizing experience. Additionally I had called the receptionist a week later about having trouble getting eye drop medication into my dogs eye, and I was absolutely baffled at how rude the girl I spoke to was. I was being judged and talked down to by her when all I was asking was if an alternative medication was available. The attitude I was met with was downright weird. I took my dog to an eye specialist vet a month later and that vet found that his eye problem was a symptom of a mild concussion and they were able to treat him and clear up his eye right away. It was not cancer. I truly believe the vet here at petcare had ill intentions. I feel it was a scare tactic to get me to pay for a myriad of different services. I would not recommend taking your pet here. There are many amazing vets around here and this is not one of them.
Careful with this place, make sure you know what you are being charged for before you agree to any service. I was recently charged $150 for 3 shots and a checkup, that could have been a $45 service for just the shots. Of course I only found out about the $45 option after being charged $150. This review was not made in error.
I cannot express my recommendation enough. They got us is asap, great team- shout out to Tessa and Daron for being fantastic with my Oscar. You guys will be the first place I suggest to friends a family for emergency pet care.
They were very helpful in getting my cat in for a check up when everyone else had terrible wait times. They offered me a better deal on vaccines than I was getting. Very clean facility and super kind staff.
Ive been going to this clinic for about a year. Daily visits with a sick cat and now fluids daily at home as she slowly declines. I was just in and was ganged up on as I discussed the charges for the fluids having jumped dramatically. Although I was calm and understanding the group glaring me down reduced me to tears and resulted in being banned. I did not deserve this treatment.
My cat was hurt or sick Sunday afternoon. They helpfully squeezed me in with no appointment. Everything was explained along the way, from pricing to tests to results. They gave my boy fluids and medicine and hes already feeling a lot better hours later. Im grateful to have had these people to help me know the right things to do to find out what my cat was dealing with and then give us the solutions. Thank you!
Abby is doing perfect. She is back to her princess state of mind. We were traveling from Hurricane, Utah to Herriman, Utah to attend our grandsons high school graduation. On the way our toy poodle encountered a medical situation, of which we considered she needed immediate attention. Our girls are former patients of Dr. Matheson and Pet Care Animal Hospital. We called them while traveling, explained our situation and Abbys systems. They accommodated us with an appointment upon our arrival to Herriman. I cannot express our appreciation in the professional attention Abby received by Dr Love and Tavante. Within a few hours she was on the road to recovery and we were able to attend graduation. Thank You to everyone at PetCare. We were treated like family even after moving 8+ years ago. Our girls are our fur babies and we always want them to receive the best care. PetCare provides this to every patient that walks through their door. Thank You again and you are appreciated by the Matthys crew!
I used to take my dog Elsa here since she was a puppy, it wasnt until I went to a better vet and realized that this place kinda sucks! Elsa has an auto immune disease and is a walking hospital bill, so I have been here quite a bit with her. They did unnecessary tests to run up the bill, and the veterinarians Ive met with have taken no initiative to let Elsa get warmed up to them as she is nervous at the vet. I actually believe they are the reason she is scared of the vet, they seem like they just want to hurry and get you out of there. I always felt unsettled after leaving. Go somewhere that acts like they care about your pet! I didnt have a terrible experience here by any means and this was all a little over a year ago, I just didnt know how awesome veterinarians could be until I went somewhere else!
We take our two dogs to Petcare Animal Hospital and always have a good experience with our visits. Two big reasons we like Petcare . 1) They open Monday to Sunday!!!! some time your pets get sick on the weekend, it is good to know there is a place to take them to. 2) You get to see the vet in person and the vet spends a good amount of time with you and your pets while many other animal clinics would be a drop-off service (I personally like to meet with the vet) Other than that, they can get you in relatively quick (within 1-3 days) Thank you!! To start, we ve been taking our pets (dogs) here for years, the doctors and nurses are great . But the front house staff needs some serious customer service training. They aren t welcoming, they are way more concerned about collecting your money and making sure you pay than making sure you feel comfortable having your pet/family member seen or dropped off. One lady in particular (older lady with short hair and tattoos) seems almost annoyed that you ve walked in the front door. I usually never write bad reviews in fact don t write too many reviews at all but I m hoping they see this and provide some well needed customer service training to the front of house staff . They are the first impression and as of late that impression is not good. Let me state once again the doctors and nurses are wonderful, they seem happy to help your pet and always do a good job but I ve considered going elsewhere just because of the way I m treated when first stepping through the front door.

I live in South Jordan but I m willing to drive the 1/2 hr south because Dr Geisler used to be with a vet in Riverton and when he moved I went too. He has always treated me with respect despite my non-traditional way of feeding my dogs. And all the staff is wonderful.
Adopted a rescue. 8 mo old labradoodle. 3 weeks in she still had loose poops. Brought her to Petcare Animal Hospital. She had Giardia and both ears had infections. The Dr. and nurse explained everything, were very friendly and efficient, and sent us home with a bag of meds. The price was fair for everything. I had a great experience here. Visited today 4/18/24 bcuz my girl had something up with her left eye. Turns out she had an infection. The doc and nurse were terrific as usual. Left with some meds to fix her up.
The doctor was very caring and through when I brought my sick dog in. He explained all of thrmedications to me and answered all my questions. The vet technician was friendly and very efficient.
Except the impoliteness of the recipients on the front desk! It s not pleasant to talk to them on the phone to make appt nor walk me in to the room! They make me feel they don t like their job nor humans and my pet, or they are just miserable in life! The vet and technician are awesome and caring! Come on, your window people can be more professional!
The vets insistence on frequent and seemingly unnecessary blood work, every 6 months, feels excessive. Weve identified that our pets issue is joint pain, and the emphasis on financial aspects over our pets well-being is disheartening. Bloodwork, just like the last 2 times we did it, will tell us nothing; its joint pain. He will be lucky to be with us in 6 months; we know what the problem is. I understand they are a business and need to make money, but withholding a pets pain medicine until they get more money for another pointless blood draw is just sad. Update: I will say despite the prior experience, when it was time to put down our poor dog they were great. They were able to squeeze us in and had a lot of empathy. So when it mattered most they were great. Thank you!

Great service and friendly staff, but pricing seems ridiculous to me. Maybe I am out of touch with current veterinary pricing, but I always though it would be less then urgent human medical pricing. Our 2-year old small dog had been throwing up, and unable to keep food down for almost 12 hours. My wife called around, and was recommended here. They were quite busy, but were able to get us an appointment later in the day. They examined her, took x-rays and gave her fluids for a total of $466! They saw something blocking in her stomach x-rays, and told us to come back the next morning to see if it passed or needed surgery. They went back the next morning, took x-rays, and said they no longer see the blockage for an ADDITIONAL $190!! In contrast our daughter broke her ankle 2 weeks ago, total InstaCare bills was $282.63 including the x-rays and a walking boot. The follow up with specialist was only $146.00. Lets just say Im just glad it passed on its own, because at their prices I doubt we could have afforded surgery!!
We have been bringing our dog here since we got him at 8-weeks old, in 2017, for his shots and everything else. We have had his teeth cleaned, used their boarding service, kept up to date on shots, as well as other doggie sorts of things. Everyone is friendly and Dr. Matheson always takes his time to answer our questions. I have recommended Petcare to friends and family.
The care of your pet is well regarded. Petcare cost seems out of control, but inflation has increased cost elsewhere too. We are pleased with the care they gave to our pets.
Picked up 2 doggies that were running loose by the SJO Library. Took them to this Vet to check for microchips. Staff was super nice! Place was very clean & inviting! We were non-paying customers, but staff was awesome!!
First time there and everyone was so nice and the doctor talked us through everything. Well definitely make them our furry family doctor.

My sweet girl got her teeth cleaned here for her (and mine as a pet owner) first time. I was nervous because Im one of those neurotic dog moms but the staff here made me feel comfortable about what was going to go down. There was about a 4 month wait for the procedure which is average with anywhere right now (my own vet was 12 weeks out). The procedure was less expensive here but not for lack of care or experience. I am so mad I didnt take before pictures of my dogs teeth because they are SO beautiful now! She had some visible tarter that is now gone and they are just about pearly white. Very happy with my experience here and would recommend to anyone.
Honestly pretty lousy, vet came in for less than 2 minutes while they gave my dog two vaccines, told me my dog needed to get a teeth cleaning. I asked why and what s that process. They told me to just talk to the assistant and walked out of the room. The assistant gave me no details except how to schedule an appointment, not why or anything. Felt very swindled, like they only want money and do no care for the animals.

I have been taking my cats here for years and even though I live about 40 minutes away I still make the drive because I have not found a better vet. I always feel like I am getting the best care from the beginning to end. When I called a few weeks ago and was concerned that all 4 of my cats were sick, Kinley the receptionist went completely above and beyond for me. I felt like what started out as a very stressful situation ended with me feeling calm and collected because of how she kept her composure even though I was acting like my world was falling a part. She answered any questions I had. Even the really insane and somewhat annoying or stupid questions, and she never once made me feel like a somewhat annoying or totally insane cat woman that I actually am. Anyway, I really love this place, and I wanted to give Kinley a special shout out.
Was greeted promptly, and my dog was taken in within 5 minutes.

On Father s Day we came home and our Koda bear was declining on his health so rapidly, I called pet care animal hospital and let me tell you they were so kind and caring. They made sure they have a large room for our large family to be there during this tragic time as well as answered any questions. They made sure to get him back to us in a beautiful box as well as so many other things that meant so much to us!! We would like to thank them so very much

I love this place. I have to go a bit out of my way to get there but I dont mind at all because they do such a great job with my cats. If I ever need a medication refilled, it is as easy as giving them a call and waiting for approval. Thank you for all you do, Petcare!
July 2022 appt - A woman at the front desk was not nice to anyone she talked to. She shushed us at one point when I asked her a question because she had to pick up the phone but while she was helping us. We were very put off by her. I was kind and courteous because I assumed she was having a bad day but left feeling awful from the treatment. We ve had a lot of experience with vets offices and this one just didn t compare. My dog was treated well and so I won t give a 1 star but I wouldn t feel comfortable with my dog staying there without me.

Staff is helpful and attentive
Pet Care animal hospital is a part of our family! Our entire family take all our pets there. They ve been there at the difficult end of life care of our pets and seen our recent new kitten rescue and our English bulldog Mavis. Availability can be limited for acute needs but even if we take our pets elsewhere we follow up with Pet Care and always feel better when our pets have been seen there. Dr. Emch and Dr. Matheson are very knowledgeable and experienced and it shows.
We ve been going to Petcare Animal Hospital since 2021. Dr. Emch and Dr. Matheson have always taken great care of our dogs and cats. They listen to our concerns and understand that our pets are family. If I could give them 100 stars, I would!
Front desk lady is rude. Doctors and nurses are great.
Dr. Emsch had a great bedside manner when we had to put our Belle to sleep this week. We elected to stay with our pet for the whole procedure so she wouldnt be scared. Dr. Emsch kindly explained the procedure and what we might see and hear during the process and gave us all the time we needed to say goodbye to our loved one.
They are very caring and took good care of our dog she is recovering well after her surgery.
Our 2-year-old dog had an allergic reaction to his regular yearly shots. Because the Petcare had outlined to me what I should be looking for when they gave the shots, I knew right away to take our dog back for help when he reacted. He was immediately seen again and given the necessary treatment. Everyone was very kind, even checking up with me twice in the days after we returned home.
I have used a few other veterinary clinics. These guys really do care about your pets healthcare. I had another clinic tell me that my dogs heart condition could only be solved through surgery. He is 16 yrs old and probably wouldnt survive the surgery to begin with. I came to petcare animal hospital for another issue and they told me heart medications would make him comfortable and allow his enlarged heart to operate easier. This ultimately stopped his heart attacks and the number of what I can assume were seizures because his heart is operating better. I never would have found this out if not coming here. I cant thank this clinic enough.
This vet office is fantastic!!!! Everyone took care of my boy Sora (black tuxedo so well. The vet was so awesome and extremely knowledgeable, and kitten is already feeling better. Thank you!!!

my best friend brought her dachshund here because his eye started to get cloudy and the pupil started to change shape and wasn t reactive. she was in so much distress already and the dr and staff did nothing but make it worse. they did not take any scans, blood or do anything of importance. the dr instantly told her it could be cancer and did nothing to reassure her or help. he gave eye drops and sent her on her way. not only is it terrifying to have a sick animal, but on top of all of this she had to take off work and fork out an insane amount of $ that she does not have. they do not offer payment plans. they do not offer medication refills unless you for our $ for ANOTHER appt. they do not offer basic human decency or care. i have no idea how they have a single review over one star. PLEASE if your animal is sick, take them to a doctor who actually cares. you should be ashamed of yourself to be in this profession and not have a single caring or compassionate bone in your body.

Staff are very friendly, professional, instructive, thorough, attentive and, of prime importance to me personally, women. Whenever possible I seek to work exclusively with women professionals in all areas of my life. I recently moved into this area from a jurisdiction from which the members of the U.S. Senate and House of Representatives were all women. This jurisdiction is all white boys in the federal roles. Still got some work to do to level the field in this nation, sadly.

Second time visiting the hospital with my dog and it seemed like it was going to be a normal appointment. The moment the nurse came into the room, everything changed. My mom was trying to ask some simple questions and the nurse kept talking at us in a condescending voice, not answering anything and made us feel like very bad pet owners. We wanted our dog to get the best care possible and it was difficult to do that in the appointment because there was no empathy or compassion anywhere. The nurse seemed like she didnt want to be there at all. Even my dog didn t like the way she was acting around him. When the vet came in, he listened to our concerns attentively and did give our dog the treatment he deserved. I understand people can have bad days at times, but when you re in a job that focuses on patient health and well-being, having a bad attitude doesn t solve any problems and gets you nowhere.

My sweet pup was having an emergency and everywhere I called told me it was an emergency and she needed to be seen right away but no where would take her. Petcare Animal hospital told me to come in as soon as I could and got her back the second I arrived. They took care of her so quickly and were so kind. They also sent a text a few days later to check on her. Im so happy with the care she received. Petcare animal hospital was wonderful!
I wish the guy that answers the phone was nice, I was looking for the next opening for my puppy and he said it s at the February 29th lol funny but how rude I hope he treats other people better, we re just worried about our pets

Eh vet v didnt seem to friendly towards people but my cat loved him pured the price is reasonable but I probably wont be going back there I mean its not a bad place but I feel the more Im comfortable with the vet the more comfortable my pet is might be worth a shot to you to go just not for me but thank you for the care tho
Dr. Matheson and his staff are wonderful. They have extended hours and are always extremely accommodating when scheduling appointments or for emergency visits. They are extremely caring and thoughtful with our pets.
The young man at the front desk was so incredibly rude to me and my 75 year old Mother. They mixed up my appointment DAY (text conversion confirming the day) My mother was also a new customer referral by me. We waited several days and her dog was needing attention. He so coldly said go some where else if you want help now. We walked out in shock with both our dogs that needed help and having what was a confirmed appointment. His defense is I should have gotten an auto text with the date and time (I didnt) The only text was the conversion confirming Saturday. Then on the phone I was told my time changed from 2 to 4 but nothing about a different day. Miscommunication happens but for the business to represent itself like this was shocking, cold and rude.
I really like the staff and doctors, they are always willing to help and provide honest advice.
I can t say enough good things about this place. Everyone who works there is great. They are so friendly and patient with my pets and they make sure to answer all questions no matter how many I have. I will recommend them to everyone!
UPDATED: 3/11/21 made an appointment for today. I dropped off my dogs at 8am this morning. I just barely got a phone call at noon saying the groomer didn t show up. There was a miscommunication and the dogs can be groomed tomorrow. I am furious. My dogs have been sitting in a kennel for 4 hours and I m just barely hearing about it! I asked if there would be a discount tomorrow, they said $10 off. This is not enough compensation for a mistake this bad. This is NOT the first time this has happened. I ve had this happen 2-3 times in the last 6 months. My dogs should have never been taken if the groomer hasn t shown up yet. Again, this has happened before. I won t be taking my dogs to get groomed here again. However, we LOVE the vets here. We will continue to come here for those services. Visit 2020: I have brought all of my pets here for a couple of years. I really like the staff, groomer, and doctors. They have always been profesional and friendly. I ve love coming here and my family members love bringing their pets here as well. The doctors are very knowledgeable and are wonderful with my pets and one of them is very wary of men and she had never had a problem coming here. I would highly recommend this place. 5/5 stars every visit!

Took my puppies for shots and wellness checks. Put us in a room right away. Dr spent time with each puppy and answered my questions. Staff is friendly and helpful. Front desk was able to get me scheduled quickly. Ive had a few appointments here with a positive experience each time.
Called in today when my dog was having an emergency and the man who answered the phone was extremely rude and inpatient. It seemed like he would rather be doing anything else then helping a client! Edit: After reading the other reviews this seems to be a recurring problem. You would think they would fix the issue. I m glad I didn t bring my dog here after seeing that they won t fix an issue that several others have! This young man appears to just be bitter and rude. Please train your employee in customer service!!!!!!
If you like paying exorbitant amounts every visit for sub-par care, waiting 45+ min in a room with your pet for a weird vet with poor social skills, not being able to get price estimates on care(for some weird reason), and having zero follow-up from the clinic in any regard, this place is for you!!!
Im not one to leave reviews, but save your time with this place. The staff (front desk) is rude and unhelpful. I have had several different occurrences with this place that have rubbed me the wrong way. 1. Arrived 5 mins early for my vet appointment. (7:55 am) the front desk staff made me wait outside in 20 degree weather. You couldnt let me and my puppy inside to wait? They clearly saw me standing and did nothing. 2. No help/ interest to help whatsoever with a sick puppy. Always come off as too busy, or unwilling to help. Get it together Petcare. The actual vet isnt the problem here, his staff is.

My cat was in dire need of follow up from a medical emergency she had and no other vets were taking patients until for over a month! Petcare Animal Hospital accepted my cat as a new patient, got her scheduled within a few days AND their treatment was phenomenal! Theyve even been texting me during their closed hours on the weekend to help me get her more medicine she needs! Ditching our old vet and never going anywhere else!
Fantastic service our pet had a problem that was hard to solve she was bleeding out of both ends occasionally and had to go to the hospital. We took her to pet care they just did her diet and she has been fine for a year and a half. Thanks pet care!

When looking for a new primary vet I was able to get into Petcare in a reasonable amount of time. Once in the office everyone was so nice and their doctor seemed really invested in treating the animals. I have been very impressed with the communication with office staff and the technology available to them. They make it so easy to make appointments or get a hold of anyone. Pricing is very reasonable. My pet has some special needs going on and I look forward to working with Petcare to get him feeling better!

Dr. Emch and his assistant were awesome with our new puppy; second shots and instructions in how to have a well behaved and healthy dog. They treated her like family. Dr. Emch (sp?) was knowledgeable about our Morkie dog.
Called here for an emergency appointment for a dog I was pet sitting. They were at capacity for the day which I understand, there aren t many vets and every other clinic within an hour of me was at capacity as well. However, the person on the phone, I believe her name is McKenna, was curt, rude, dismissive, and extremely condescending. I even politely told her that I did not feel great about the way she was speaking to me, that I was a real person with an emergent situation, that I understand the stress of being at capacity but I could still be spoken to in a friendly way. The response was Well what do you want me to say. Nine clinics that day told me they were at capacity, eight of them were kind and empathetic about the situation. One left me feeling terrible, and that was PetCare. The person answering the phone showed no semblance of bedside manner or kindness, nor any interest for the person on the other end of the line. The stark contrast to the eight others is what really solidified this as a demoralizing experience. Demoralized is not how anyone should feel when they are trying to get care for a pet, in my opinion.
We ve taken our fuzzy babies to PetCare for 18-ish years. The Dr and staff took care of Harley girl until she passed in 2014. They were also so helpful & good to her! Now we have Marley and Ollie. I love how loving they are with them. They ve never over charged me and never given me adverse advice. Sometimes it s hard to get them in, but I do understand and I feel the staff does there best to accommodate us! I ll continue to be loyal to the Dr and staff! Thank you so much for all the love and extra care!!
So glad to find an animal hospital that is not corporate. The people are so friendly and helpful and the doctor took time to thoroughly check our rescue dog from snout to tail and answered all our questions. I would recommend to anyone looking to quality vet care that is not in the corporate realm.
This place is another example of what post covid has done to businesses. Overbooked and understaffed. The people working there dont deserve what management is doing to them. Edit: Owner replied so Ill give a full report. Booked an appointment a week ahead for my dog and was told they had an opening at 3:30 on a Tuesday. Received text messages to register my dog with them and filled out all the required paperwork. Checked in at 3:25. They wanted me to fill out the paperwork again so I dont know what the point of the online text system is. Proceeded to wait in the office for over an hour and left after giving up trying to keep my dog calm. At no point did anyone offer to help me calm my dog. If you are going to schedule someone for 3:30 and still not even put them in a room for over an hour you can see why I said overbooked and understaffed. 5 pet families in the waiting area when I left. I cant imagine what this place is like when your pet is in an actual emergency. Very unprofessional response too.
Loved my experience with the vets and the techs. So good with my dogs and they do a great job of explaining everything in detail.
I will be forever grateful for the attentive care that Dr. Matheson gave to my new kitten. He was gravely ill and he saved his life. They called me and text me to make sure that his care was successful. I also went in sometimes twice a week to make sure that he was continuing to progress. I highly recommend this hospital.

I have taken my cats to this vet for over 6 years. In the beginning they were good. You always saw a vet with each visit. They are expensive but I believe you get what you pay for. I have noticed that the past several visits we have only seen a tech and not a vet. This was unsettling but we have continued to go there. Today we had the most horrible experience of having to have a dear loved pet put to sleep, which my pet is well known to the staff. They put us in a room and sent in a tech that hardly knew what she was doing. She couldnt answer our questions and handled out pet like he was an object. She made us help put him in a tight fit plastic box and our pet then had to watch us leave without him. I cant forgive them for this. I dont know how other people feel but I am now looking for a Vet Hospital that helps people understand what is happening and shows some sensitivity.

I have used them since my dog Gulliver was a pup and they are awesome! They have a texting feature so when I m freaking out that something is wrong they can calm me down or get me in right away if it is serious. They are always willing to go above and beyond and care for Gully like he is their own when he s there.

I called several weeks in advance of my visit with relatives to have yearly exams for my 2 cats. We are full time RVers so getting care on the road is sometimes problematic. Petcare took us in as if we were old time patients. Tessa and Dr. Emch were professional, warm and kind to us and our cats. If I lived in South Jordan this would be my full time vet. Thank you for an excellent experience.
They had great prices. Very upfront about costs. Took my dog in for an eye issue and they were very good with her. She is a rescue and gets very excited around people. The Vet you can tell is a real dog person. Was kissing my dog and everything .
Looking for a new vet. This practice has many good reviews, and Im sure they provide is good service from a clinical standpoint. However, having looked over some recent reviews (and responses!)-- common courtesy could certainly be improved. I normally take negative reviews with more than a grain of salt--- unless there is a pattern. These negative reviews complain about rudeness. Well, you cant please them all, but if anyone is wondering, just take a look at the owners responses. Some are defensive, some are actually aggressive. Being able to accept feedback for what its worth and avoid attacking in response is a sign of maturity and in this case, professionalism. The way the owner replies to negative feedback goes a LONG way to giving at least some credibility to the negative comments.To the owner: Trust me, youll do yourself a favor if you can consider what people say, take it for what you think its worth, and then let it go. Youve got enough good comments to give people good impressions. Dragging a pet owner through the mud to prove theyre the offender doesnt really do yourself any favors. It just makes you come-off as vindictive. Some people are just going to be difficult. Be nice, and forget it. If its worth explaining in detail, write em a letter. Youll look friendlier and more patient that way, and everyone likes a friendly, patient vet.
We have been going to Petcare for 2 years now and have always had good experiences there. When Joey ate Easter candy from the grandkids and got super ill, they got him in immediately and took me right back to the back room with him. We got him well within the next 5 days. They were amazing to us.
Called them about a service and the lady that answered was completely bratty. I about called back to talk to a manager. Never ever going here. Where Is the compassion and good customer support these days?
My dog was sick with kennel cough and when I called to make an appt the receptionist offered to see if they could prescribe antibiotics for him. (I guess they do it all the time). The doctor would not prescribe anything for him unless he saw him even though he just saw him 3 weeks ago. They wouldn t give me an appt until a week later and my dog got really sick really fast! I called and begged to get him in sooner or to prescribe something in the mean time and they just wouldn t! I ended up taking him somewhere else and they admitted him right away since he was in such bad shape!! He had to stay there for several days as he fought pneumonia!! The new vet said if he was given antibiotics sooner or was seen sooner he never would have had to be admitted and he wouldn t be so close to dying! Horrible experience!! The doctor seemed more hungry for money than actually just willing to help. Never coming back. The only helpful person there, is Devaunte the front staff. Everyone else is rude and not helpful at all.

So happy we found Petcare Animal Hospital. Dr. Matheson has taken care of our cats from spaying and thyroid care, to kidney disease and lymphoma. The nurses are well trained and very compassionate. Fees for every appointment are discussed before treatment begins and estimates for future surgical or other procedures are always provided beforehand. We know our cats are getting the best care available at Petcare and we truly appreciate how hard the staff works. Thank you!
After a brief experience where none of the staff explained what a lipoma was and had no time for us, we got a second opinion and it was cancer. (The nurse told us google it ) We are very disappointed in the service provided and are so glad we got a 2nd opinion so our animal could get the treatment she needed.
Theyve been great for my dogs and I who just moved to Utah last year. However, they really made an impact when my girl and I went in for routine blood work and had a sudden emergency, ultimately leading to her passing. Dr. Matheson was very clear about what was happening, did not sugar coat anything yet still gave me time to process and ultimately make a hard decision. Thank you to the staff for surrounding me when I had to say goodbye to my girl Hazel so suddenly.
We ended up at Petcare Animal Hospital under the worst circumstances. The front office staff and the medical staff were all very proficient and compassionate. My friend also lost a pet at the same time and for individual cremations services, she paid double what I did for the same.

I usually get my dogs nails clipped here, and all her vet. needs. The last visit, I needed her nails trimmed only. In the past it was $15, but this time it was $35, I asked why it was double the price as last time, the person at the front desk was terse and humorless, and although she lowered the price to $20, I thought the change in price as she explained did not make sense to me. I think I will change my vet service to another.

I was able to walk in on a sunday morning and get an appointment for my dog. He was seen very quickly; the doctor was great and explained everything in detail. The office is clean and smells good. After the visit I received follow up texts from the doctor who answered more questions that had come up. My dog is back to his normal, playful self. Thank you Petcare Animal Hospital!
PetCare is great. You dont wait long to see the vet and you can pay for your visit in the room so your animal isnt out in the waiting room getting anxious around other animals. They are reasonably priced and dont push optional procedures on you. The only reason I didnt give 5 stars is because they can be difficult to get an appointment with in an emergency. But, I suspect this is true with most vets.

I am not happy with this place. They re try to make money at anyway. They have gave us first dose of prevention medication then we trying to get another one but they said puppy needs to do lab work. Didn t get it.
We had to put down one of our sweet dogs a couple weeks ago and this company, from beginning to end of the process, was super sympathetic. We never felt rushed, and they made sure we took all the time we needed before saying goodbye. We had our dogs ashes returned to us. So when they called to let us know she was ready for pickup they made sure to ask if we were doing okay. Also asked if there was anything that they could do to help us. Although it was a super difficult choice to make, they tried absolutely everything they could to make it easier.
My young cat is very scared of men, but Dr. Mathesons soft voice and gentle manner put her at ease.
Price for dental work for my dog was much less than the vet where we normally take him. Covid precautions made dropping him off and picking him up longer than they needed to be.

I so far have only spoken on the phone with just the nicest, funniest, caring member of their staff. Becca went above and beyond to get me a last minute appointment for TWO dogs. No other vet even offered that to me this morning. Their customer service is like having a crystal ball that shows what kind of professionals they are, and the outlook so far is QUALITY. For those leaving the ridiculous negative reviews, it reflects poorly only on yourself; Not these angels that save our best buddies. Next time you have a thought, Mr/Ms complainer, just resist. Ill be going here for the rest of my furry familys lives because of the negative review and how it was handled. Becca deserves a raise and a free trip to Hawaii!! Cause this Staff does not deserve a single negative impact due to an entitled Karen Complaint.

We have sent our dog here a few times now for boarding and each time I am faced with rude staff. They have also twice now mis-fed our dog so she ends up eating about half of what she should. When I asked about this they told me it was my fault until I pushed them to look on their computer and explained when we dropped her off we gave feeding instructions and it was on the bag of food we sent with her. The staff also seems to really not like dogs or people. They are unprofessional, rude and lack any and all simple customer service you d expect them to have. I would not recommend this location.
We had a loved cat that was experiencing respiratory distress and took her in for emergency. Turned out being cancer that was too far to try much so we sent her to the rainbow bridge. Everyone there was exceptional in handling the grief of my family. The only negative was we had to pay that day for any cremation service, so felt a little trapped to come up with the cash.
The Vets & staff are awesome here! Weve taken both of our Great Danes to Petcare & theyve not only been great with our Danes, but they have vets with extensive knowledge of Great Danes & extensive experience with Great Danes! They are also very reasonably priced, & do a phenomenal job! I highly recommend Petcare Animal Hospital to all pet parents!
HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE!!! Ive had dogs for over 30 years and have experienced what its like to have a really good veterinarian. Finding a good vet in a new state can be a challenge. It felt like this veterinarian was more interested in selling tests than helping my dog. I wish I had trusted my intuition and stopped at the initial exam but I didnt. They charged me $250 and all I got for my money was a receipt. I did tell the vet that I was unhappy with his services but this just seemed to make him angry. In my opinion, a veterinarian shouldnt charge if they dont actually help you. My dog only lived another month after this visit. The last vet to see my dog gave me two options of what my dog was suffering from, either one there was nothing that could have be done to prolong or enhance his quality of life. It is my opinion that this vet had that same opportunity to be that candid and honest but chose a more lucrative option on his part. GOOD JOB ANIMAL PET CARE HOSPITAL IN SOUTH JORDAN. YOU TOOK MY MONEY, AND ALL YOU GAVE ME WAS A RECEIPT. NO BENEFIT WHATSOEVER.
Normally we love it here, we have 3 dogs weve brought in regularly. They helped us discover our young girl was pregnant and ended up having 11 pups 2 weeks ago. I noticed shes been shaking, so I reached out to see if they think I should bring her in, there or anywhere, as they have given great advice before such as when she went into labor. Whoever answered the phone was rude, sassy, and ultimately unhelpful. Im shocked and very disappointed as we used to love and trust the people who work here, but will most likely be looking for another clinic.
My cat started limping and I couldnt get him in to his regular vet. I called Petcare and was able to make an appointment easily and quick. When we arrived we went right back with no wait. The Dr was friendly and kind and all the staff were so helpful. They didnt try to have us do unnecessary testing and the final cost was more than reasonable. Im a lifelong customer now, thank you. Love this place!! Ive taken my bunnies to be neutered and they are so gentle with them and really done a great job. They were also cheaper then my normal vet that if been taking my dogs to so I changed my records over smoothly (they called and got all their records for me) and now they are my only vet for my dogs as well. The vet and the receptionist are way nice and great to work with. I can always get they quickly and they fit me right in. I had to change my appointment and they didnt have a problem making it a little later for me when I was stuck on freeways coming back from out of town. They are the absolute best Vet in town!!!!
Although my 8.5+ pound, one year old cat couldnt really be diagnosed with a specific problem. Labs testing revealed an elevated WBC. She had an elevated temp, was losing weight and hair. And she was vomiting clear bile. The vet diagnosed the GI concerns with an appetite stimulator and antibiotic. Total fee $402. Within a few days she was fit again. The busy staff were pleasant and accomodating. The exam room were clean with no noticeable orders. I would recommend Petcare Animal Hospital.
I needed to take my elder rat who was not doing well to be put to sleep and no other vet that was open would take her. Petcare Animal Hospital staff were so kind and took my rat in. They were kind to me and explained the process of what they were going to do. They made me feel okay with taking her there, as this was already a really difficult decision I had to make. I am thankful they were there.
All 3 of my pups are patients here! The staff and doctors always take very good care of my pups and keep them very safe. I would definitely recommend.

I sincerely want to thank PetCare animal Hospital for caring about our cat. We have an outdoor cat who had not eaten in three days and he could only lick the juice from the canned food and so we knew something was extremely wrong. He had a lump under his jaw and was unable to eat and I had called every veterinary place from Utah county to Salt Lake County and everyone kept telling me they were booked even though I told them my cat had not eaten in four days they acted like they really didn t care. When I found this Petcare animal Hospital in South Jordan and spoke to the receptionist about my cat not eating for days they immediately told us to bring him in at 3 PM that day (do other veterinarians not care about their customers animals or keep at least one or two openings blocked out in case of emergencies?). I want to give a very big thank you to PetCare Animal Hospital from some stressed out animal owners who love their cat and were very concerned for our cat and when no other veterinary place cared...pet animal hospital did. Thank You so very much! You have just earned a customer for life!

Moved to this vet little over a year ago for my two cattle-dogs after bad experiences with my old Vet. It s hard to find good service and somebody you can trust with your animals. They helped us understand issues the we have been concerned about that other vets we saw could not figure out our concerns or able to explain specific questions or maybe they did not want to take the time. The Vet did a good job cleaning her teeth and removing a cancerous tumor on the (14 yrs.) back leg. Helped figure out our Blue Healers (6 yrs.) skin issues and he responded well to the staff, generally he doesn t! Staff is nice and overall I recommend. Hope this helps somebody!

He cut me off right in the middle while I was telling him my cats current situation. All I got is a cold we are fully booked and a not so sorry sorry. I personally wont trust a vet that doest have empathy nor the basic manner. Therefore, I dont recommend this animal hospital.
I really appreciate these guys a lot. Our pet was in a lot of pain and was passing away from old age. We were new patients and our usual vet was closed on the weekend so Petcare really didnt need to go out of their way to help us but they did. Even though they were really booked they took pity and were willing to fit us in that day to have her put down so she wasnt in pain anymore. The staff and vet were so nice and handled such a tender situation with kindness and understanding. Thank you for helping out little kitty angel find her peace.

Petcare animal hospital has the worst customer service I have ever experienced. Disgruntled employees with horrible attitudes that openly argue with clients and even roll their eyes in disagreement. Prescriptions for my pet have been completely misplaced (lost), both type and quantity erroneously filled and controlled medication NOT witnessed, filled by the doctor or recorded for protection. If a patient complains or suggests such as I just have , they are refused future services and told not to return. Despite the incompetency and unprofessional attitude, I have never received an apology from the front desk reception. It is not uncommon to enter with front desk empty and wait 5 plus minutes to be helped. Employees also ignore patients while on their personal phones and having conversations with each other. The hospital is employee(s) owned and airing your grievances will not improve anything. The negativity can be felt as soon as you walk in . They are also always hiring due to constant turn over. Petcare is not a happy or caring clinic despite their motto of your pet being treated like family. Dr. Matheson is an Old school practitioner who relies solely on expensive procedures and costly medications. He does not appear empathetic or caring in any way. I will recognize the few who make the hospital bearable .. Becca (front desk), Elizabeth(nurse) and Dr. Emsch are the few who seem to honestly enjoy being there and genuinely care about your pet s well being. The facility is also clean and open 7 days a week. My suggestion is to do your pet and yourself a big favor and steer clear of Petcare Animal Hospital

For the quality of care you receive here, 5 stars. Theyre quick with appointments and do a great job with the level of care they provide. A word of caution though, DO NOT BUY MEDICATION FROM THEM!!! They marked up an antibiotic 150% over several other online pet med retailers. Unfortunately I feel totally ripped off. Upon discovering this, I looked up several other medications I purchased from them in the past, and the price mark up for all of them was similar. For the level of care you receive, the cost is reasonable, but when it comes time for medications, get them elsewhere.
Really informative and friendly staff! Lots of supplies for pet owners as well. Will definitely keep this place as our preferred clinic for our pup!

We love this place! We have had 2 cats and our new puppy here. All the staff is very friendly and kind. The fact that they are open weekends is such a lifesaver for us. They will take care of your pet as their own. Definitely recommend!
SCHEDULED FAKE APPOINTMENT OUT OF SPITE! We had been taking multiple cats to this location for years and felt we had a good relationship with Matheson and the staff. We moved further away and continued the drive to this office because of the loyalty we previously had to them. We have a female cat in need of a spay, and got both rounds of shots done. We scheduled the spay, and were told the appointment was canceled a week later and couldnt be rescheduled for at least a month. There was some misinformation about WHY the appointment was canceled. When I professionally expressed my frustration at this treatment to loyal customers via email, dr Matheson replied very quickly with an incredibly defensive, rude complaint about how busy he is and how time consuming the spays are. I was stunned to be honest. Ive worked in the customer service industry for over 10 years, and Matheson has absolutely no idea how to deal with misinformation, a frustrated customer, and definitely cant express empathy. He told me in CAPS that he was the only vet there, that due to medical issues (Im assuming someone got COVID yet they wont reveal that) they have ONE vet, him, instead of TWO-THREE like they usually do (using all caps defensively is great to explain why the inconvenience is happening huh?) I expect hell respond the same to this review. I said that another vet, the one from our previous visit, a female, told us we should wait to check our kittys urinary health until she was under anesthesia. Shes been urinating on blankets and clothing, either due to stress or a medical issue. I expressed my frustration and worry that since we were advised not to test when we had the previous appointment, that shed go another month without being checked. Matheson said that a urinalysis is much less time consuming and hed be happy to schedule that. I feel incredibly uncomfortable placing my furbabies into the hands of someone who is purely thinking about the amount of time hes spending per animal. I told him his response confirmed that we would be seeking veterinary care elsewhere and to not bother responding. Yesterday, I received a call and voicemail from McKenna at PETCARE. Hi this is McKenna from PETCARE animal hospital. Looks like we have Abigail down for boarding starting tomorrow um through Monday the 20th, unfortunately we are not going to be doing business with you any longer because of past experiences we have had so unfortunately you will have to find services somewhere else, Ill go ahead and cancel that for you, so sorry but we can no longer see you for your pets I called right back. Hey McKenna? Yeah uh I got a voicemail about... Abigail? For boarding? Yeah so actually we were originally scheduled for LUNA (not Abigail) to be SPAYED tomorrow, we have multiple cats and uh, no reason to board any of them, especially not one without the others.... McKenna: its in our schedule here so... Me: ok well neither I nor my husband called or emailed or anything to make that appointment, and I was the one to sever our relationship with your office since your vet and owner was actually quite rude and unprofessional to me so... Yeah. It wasnt us. Matheson scheduled a boarding of one cat, not the cat that needed to be spayed, but another cat, just so his receptionist could call and say theyd no longer be doing business with us. Matheson honey, it doesnt work like that. I broke up with you, you cant turn around and say you break up with me. I hope your little game of spite was worth it. I wasnt going to actually post a public negative review, just spread the word to friends, family and acquaintances not to go to you and happily show them your emails. But once I got the call from McKenna about the fake appointment you set up for a different cat, you showed that your maturity is even more lacking than I originally saw. DO NOT VISIT THIS VET. PETTY, IMMATURE, UNRELIABLE, and COLD. I wouldnt trust this place with anything or anyone I care about. Go to a vet that actually cares!
Great service and demonstrated genuine concern for the well being of our dogs. Very pleased with the care we received and flexibility to get us in as soon as they could.
The staff was knowledgeable and very kind to my dog. She was very nervous about being at the vet. Both the tech and vet went above and beyond to make her as comfortable as possible. The tech was amazing and really made me feel better about surgery options. Definitely recommend them! I will be continuing my pets care with them.

My wife and I were blown away at the level of service Dr. Matheson and staff provided us. We took our 1 year old cat in to be neutered. Upon picking him up and getting him home we noticed a substantial amount of blood and called to see what we should do. They directed us to bring him back in to be examined. They ended up having to put him under anesthesia again to fix the issue and were going to keep him overnight. Dr. Matheson was in direct contact with us the entire time and even offered to take him home to monitor him. Dr. Matheson and staff went above and beyond to make sure our little guy was taken care of. He is home now and recovering. Thank you to everyone that works here, you are our go-to animal hospital for the foreseeable future!

We had a vet we were taking our kitty to that was fine. We adopted kitty number 2 and within a day of adopting him we thought he had an eye infection. We called our other kitty s vet to see if we could take him in and they were extremely unhelpful. My aunt and uncle take their dog here, so we just decided to call and see. They got us a same day appointment and actually let me go inside with him (something the other vet wasn t doing due to Covid, which makes sense but was still hard for me). We saw Dr. Bailiff who was so good with our scared little boy (being adopted and taken to the vet all in less than 24 hours is unsettling!) and explained to me what was going on. She was just so nice and helped me feel so calm about everything. She even had another vet come in to get a second opinion on something, which I thought was awesome. I didn t think anything was ridiculously expensive, we got an exam, medication, and a nail trim for less than I thought. I was so happy with my whole experience there we will definitely be going back and taking our other kitty! I would recommend Dr. Bailiff to anyone, she was seriously so so good with my terrified little kitty!!!
The staff and doctors are always nice and informative. They dont try to sell things on top of the requested service. They care about my dogs and my concerns. I have never felt like I have been overcharged. Its been super easy to get my dogs an appointment. They are open 7 days a week which is also a plus.
They got my dog in immediately, told me all the options possible for him to be treated and what would and might be a good idea to try and how to approach his treatment. I had issues with getting my dog actually taken care of and treated at another office and these guys took care of everything QUICKLY. My dog is a service dog for seizures so he s very important to me not just as my best buddy but also in my day to day. She listened to me and they figured out what medications I had and hadn t tried on my dog even though I couldn t remember what they were called. I absolutely recommend this clinic.
My pup got hit by a car, they were open on a Saturday!! They got her right in, let us know exactly what to look for and then checked up on her a few days later! Wonderful staff. I highly recommend
Grooming is always great and they do well with cryosurgery to remove tiny cysts off my yorkies. I am almost to a 5 star rating with them except that in the past Ive had negative experiences and those are hard to overcome, but again, were working our way back in that positive direction. My animals are my life so I am very particular about their care. I would recommend them at this point and they are way less crowded then my usual cottonwood animal hospital is, which is definitely a good thing in the way of getting in to be seen. Its just a matter of how the visit goes and the demeanor of the workers at that point. And again, recently its improved, so I am grateful.
staff is so friendly. we loved our first visit. vet was through and listened to our concerns. booking follow up was easy. we even set up a grooming appointment. our 2 Maltipoos are in great hands here. this place has become our all in one place.

Stopped in and the girl at the front desk was RUDE!! No smile and acted like I was a complete inconvenience! I think her name was kenna or something like that. I was surprised knowing some of the other staff and how nice they are.
I brought in my kitten Felonie from tooele her eye was swollen and pink with clear leaking they were absolutely amazing with her gave her drops right there and she is doing so much better they have even checked on her which means the world Id DEFINITELY recommend this location if you have a sick or injured fur baby they are WONDERFUL!!! Ill definitely only be going back here if our fur babies ever have any other issues!!!
I was referred by my regular vet because of an ear issue. I called in and scheduled an appointment for the following day. When I arrived I was told they did not see my appointment. I showed the receptionist my call history and notes. I was (not politely) they are overbooked and there is nothing they can do. It s not that this situation happened- it was the way I was treated. Very unprofessional, very unorganized, and pretty much was called a liar. Seriously, I would show up randomly at 9am on a Sunday if I didn t have an appointment? And then to be treated seriously rude? I do not recommend this place.
My cat had an appointment on Saturday. I had recently had surgery and could not sit or stand for a prolonged period of time. However, the staff at Petcare said I would have to stand or sit for an indefinite period because they were running very behind. I would not go against my doctors wishes, so I was forced to cancel the appointment and reschedule with someone else. In my opinion, these people leave A LOTto be desired!
Took tender care of my kitty
The doctor and the nurse were great. Took the dog in for an ear infection, irritated paw and some anxiety concerns. They provided treatment for the physical concerns that worked perfectly and gave a num of options for the anxiety. Great experience.
These nurses and doctors are great, they are patient and knowledgeable and we feel our pups are taken care of.
Tech Steve and Dr. Bayliff are AMAZING. I brought my dog in today with an ear infection and they were so good to him! Our pup is a bit of a brat at the vet so I was super nervous to take him in. He has been kicked out of other offices so I was not expecting them to get much done. They were so patient with him and provided him with all the care he needed. We will definitely be back in the future!
