I shop here a lot and I have to say THANK YOU to the workers who have put more cat products on your shelves. I use to dread coming in here because they never had what I needed so it’s nice to know and exciting to see the new things that get put on the cat shelves! The reason for 4 stars is the rewards program could be alot better I mean I spend alot of money and get 1.00-2.00 off that’s really not rewards, do better with that us pet lovers would love that!! Just a thought #catsneedtoystoo
They always have the products I need but I am a vital care member and i load my rewards points threw my phone and notify the clerk and on 3 seperate occasions in the last 2 months they have not given me my rewards(5 dollar rewards). So either there is a training issue and they dint know how or it's just a money grab. Un-happy this location sucks go to sugar house imo.

I love Petco. Their Rewards program really pays off cuz cat food, and cat treats, cat litter is very expensive so to get a little cash back is a good incentive to shop there. Although at times their store can be out of items that I need or be running low on them I think that's what most stores experience now since the pandemic. But there are times when I have a hard time finding finding products for my cats that I need
Best selection for small reptiles and amphibians from any "big box store" I've seen. They had 2 very beautiful crested geckos when I went at amazing prices and I even got a red eye tree frog!
Please Be SUPER CAREFUL everyone what you buy from here!!! , we got a 40 gallon tank and it broke by itself after 90 days, it was so sad and painful to see all our fish pet dead. All the water come out so fast, when we returned from work all the fish were dead and exploded😔 the most SAD scene you could image. They were loved fish and well take care every day. RIP don’t buy here if you don’t want this to happen to yours 💔💔😪

I received a greeting upon arrival and they asked if I needed help. The staff was polite.. The pet selection is comparable to the other competitors and pricing is as well. The selection is a little smaller but still great. They have exotic pets and supplies as well as fish, bird and Small pet supplies Theres an onsite Vetco clinic for dogs.. call ahead for an appointment or go online to Vetcoclinics.com. Easy returns with receipt. They also take back Open food if your pet wont eat it, but must have receipt. Also kitty litter to purchase by the pound. Fast, convenient and Friendly staff. Free 30 minute parking. Wheelchair parking but no wheelchair entry. They also accept pet supplies for donation..

Update 2025- still trash... their app constantly has issues costing me extra because have to buy from petsmart. They wont even give a small discount for a week of trouble. I hope they go out of business. Horrible company to do business with...horrible! UPDATE 2024 - Now you cant use multiple rewards at once anymore. They no longer want our business so Im going to do giving it to them... hello dreaded petsmart! I wish I wish I could make 10 accounts and give them 10 single start ratings! This store is awful. I tried their delivery service and they constantly cancel orders due to lack of inventory, hold funds, literally causing my pets to go hungry. They dont call or anything just cancel the order at 3:30 in the afternoon and make me wait a week to get my money back. Unreal...petsmart here I come. Last straw. I will tell every single human I come across for the rest of my life how terrible this company is.

I always love this place, and my puppy had so much fun sniffing at the animal cages,(probably giving them heart attacks seeing dogs sniff at their cages all day), but she loved it!

I was just looking for store credit to buy dog food. And was told.i couldnt do it. I was just upset cause the bones my grandma bought were way out her budget . They never have any crickets, and when they do the employees are too lazy to bag them for you. So they tell you that the new policy is: that if they arent on display then they dont have any in stock.
Good luck getting them to answer the phone so you could confirm if an item is in stock before driving 2 hours.

Always a delight to see my little one so happy & full ligh. Its like a kid in a candy store when I take my little girl inside this store.
This is one of my favorite locations to go into because they always have really pretty betta fish, however the last couple times I ve gone in I leave annoyed. The last time I was in there I was told that due to corporate they re no longer allowed to sell crickets in quantities less then 40 or 60, I have a baby crested gecko, having to buy 40/60 crickets at a time, literally half of them die within the week. Knowing this new rule from corporate, I went in today, checked in their designated cricket spot and there were none, so I went and stood in line, your employees were too busy talking over by the reptiles to notice myself and the 2 people behind me. When she finally came over I asked if there was any way I could get 40 small crickets and immediately I got told they re over on the shelf in a snappy tone and I replied with you don t have any over there and she points to the shipment of them that you had just got in morning of and goes these are the only ones we have sooooo you can t get me 40 of them? After I just drove 20 minutes because your West Jordan location is no longer open? Got it! It s a good thing petsmart had what I needed, or ya know, was at least willing to get them for me, since they were literally right next to your check out and you guys couldn t be bothered.
Grooming is always amazing. Flash loves Bay and the attention she pays to him and his body language. I will keep coming back.
Upper management needs to have compassion for the animals. Why would you charge for an animal that is 2 weeks from the end of its life. This is the poor 2 year old hamster that the manager tried to sell me. He had the audacity to have a 25% off sign on this poor skeleton and claimed he just had a walk and they told him to put a sign up. I call straight B.S. on that especially since I worked for this company for 15 years and have done almost every position with in the company. As a former CAL I know that it shouldve had an adopt me sign not a 25%sign. He should not be in the animal industry and should go back to staples or party city or where ever he came from.
This was one of the worst cuts I ve ever had on my dog. I will never go back

Staff is SUPER helpful, prices are pretty decent, obviously they have THE best selections for VARIOUS animals. I only suggest that you PLEASE do your OWN research BEFORE coming into ANY Big-Box Pet Store if you are looking to buy for ANY animal that is NOT a Cat OR Dog, as that is guaranteed to save you a TON of time, insure that you go in with the CORRECT info & buy the CORRECT items, & will ABSOLUTELY save you from a TON of heartache as MOST of these stores do sometimes give out the incorrect care info for Amphibians, Birds, some Fish, Reptiles, etc...
I am furious. If I could give -5 stars I would. We payed $90 to get my husky groomed. We paid for deshedding treatment and everything. It took over three hours. My dog came out WET, they didn t clip her nails, she was very obviously scared AND she is still shedding so much! It s like they sprayed her down and that s it. She also smells like wet dog! Their excuse was she knocked over her water bowl in the kennel. And wouldn t let us clip her nails 1: why was she in a kennel? You should have been with my dog grooming her the entire time. 2: I don t care if she didn t like the dryer you could have tried a towel or something! And did you even clean her ears or anything else? 3: I have never had a place not be able to clip her mais before, she gets nervous but they always are able to get it done no problem. 4: I paid an extra $30 for Dr shedding and my dog smells bad and I m still pulling clumps out of her. I honestly will NEVER take my dog here again and would have NEVER paid this much. I could have done a better job at home for less. I feel so scammed.

I very much appreciated the customer service and my dog appreciated the pampering. First review: Two stars bc Everyone was friendly. Store looked nice. BUT I set a grooming appt. Which they attempted to cancel 10 minutes before. I have a Petco membership. When I picked up my dog it seemed like all that happened was they brushed him got him wet and dried him off.. he was still dirty and dusty and the trimming was not done well at all. His nails hadnt been trimmed his ears werent cleaned. Im just honestly not sure what they really did for $80+.. would love to update my review if a refund or fix is made.?
This review is about the staff. I didnt catch the ladys name, but she spent 30 or do minutes educating me on caring for a lizard. She was very helpful and well informed.

Kids were begging to go here. We have been good customers in the past. Kids wanted a fish tank and fish. I asked to use the restroom and was refused. I dont understand why someone would refuse a shopper and have them go to the mall when they clearly have restrooms available. They just keep them locked. Will never be back. To the owners. your response doesnt address the restroom policy. If the manager doesnt allow customers to use the restroom, it doesnt solve the problem.
Took my dog in for grooming/nails/buff Offically the worst grooming hes ever had. Nails were not cut, only slightly filed. He didnt recieve a proper bath either. Also when we brought him home, he was worryingly lethargic. Almost as if the they/them/groomer drugged my pet. Absolute disgrace of an establishment.

Zero stars! Worst customer experience ever. Nobody came to help with plants so we had to do it ourselves. Got to the front and the girl at the register was playing on her phone. When she asked about whether the sku was on the bag we told her we did it ourselves and she said we couldnt do that and took the bags away.. So we left. Horrible

I scheduled a vet appointment 2 weeks out. When I called to verify after 10 text messages from them they said they did not have my phone number on account. They then told me they would need to reschedule because my dog had diarrhea. I took a day off work to make my appointment. I called numerous times and they hung up on me. Dont be fooled they dont care about animals. Just your money. Shocker
Don t bother making grooming appointments on the weekend, it always gets cancelled 2 hours before. Schedule at a reliable grooming facility instead. Very frustrating experience.
We were enrolled in the puppy training class. It sounds like the trainer decided to quit last night very last minute, but nobody bothered to call. Tell anyone in the class this was the case. Showed up and no one was there. Talk to the cashier who just said we ll let you know when we hire someone. I know for a fact that The majority of the Petco locally don t have trainers right now because they can t hire anyone They re having such a hard time finding anyone to take on the classes. I asked about transferring to another class at another location and they said that would be fine. So I called the actual Customer service line Which was its own experience And after having them Say they didn t know and reaching out to the store themselves they told me it wasn t possible to transfer the class and just refunded my money. Be upfront with people with what s going on. The store has been open a full hour before the class started and they could ve easily called any of us to let us know that it was canceled. And rather than just some nebulous off in the future, we ll just get you back to class eventually Each and everyone of us should ve been refunded immediately so that we could book classes elsewhere if they were not transferable. Additionally, my dog is very car sick and even trying to get him down. There is an ordeal so A phone call really would ve been appreciated vs Making me put him through that for nothing and the absolute waste of time this morning we had. Do better.
Im sure its just the same as the other petcos. They do a good job at keeping it clean and stocked. My kids like looking at the different small pets.

I have shopped here since it opened. But honestly customer service has declined. I ask a simple question about a stand. She didn t know but wouldn t fine anyone to help me. Then I asked if they have any other stands. She said they are really expensive. So what is that supposed to mean I wouldn t have asked if I didn t want to pay for one. Terrible place.
The employees are always very nice and helpful. I appreciate pet cos options on dog toys and treats. It doesnt have a dog treat bakery station, but other than that its solid.

I have been coming to this Petco for almost eight years and encountered the new staff today and wow, just rude. I tried to ask about the unmarked stuff on the clearance rack the first new employee had to walk us to the front for what Im assuming is a language barrier and the guy at the checkout wouldnt even listen to the question but rudely spoke over to educate me that clearance is only in the front which isnt true. I finally just left to go to Petsmart.

Be careful of all the fees they add on to services. The prices you get quoted often are not what you are actually charged. Picked up my dog after they kept them for 5 hours to find the groom incomplete. Sections of their body the hair had not even been cut. They did not even wash my pets face and did a total hack job on the hair on their face. Worst groom any of my pets have ever had on top of being the most expensive one as well.

I needed to get a metal collar because the dog keeps eating her cloth one-off. I got a metal one that has a little bit of cloth in it so it doesnt pull hair. Very clean store and very helpful.
Alrighty soooo I went in to get tank supplies as I am doing kind of an upgrade, and to potentially get a couple more fish. Upon looking at the fish I decided not to get any because i observed 10+ fish/shrimp dead(multiples in the same tank), and some looked like the had been dead for quite some time, in much of a decomposed state. So just incased any were diseased I decided it s a not worth introducing any into my tank. After about 30-45 min I was able to get some help from Jackson(it was closing time, he was busy), super cool dude and happy to help us even though the store was closing. We didn t feel rushed and he helped me find the things I needed to put live plants in my tank. Only thing thats a downer is that he recommended sand for my substrate for live plants, and after watching a few videos I realized that wasnt the best choice for live plants. Buuuuut the only reason I m even giving 2 stars is because of Jacksons outstanding customer service. Ya ll need to treat your animals better. I understand a dead fish/shrimp here and there, but I lost count after 10 do better.
We were looking at fish and they had so many dead ones in the tanks i wanted to cry we got 4 and we noticed when we got home one of our fish has a hurt eye .the floor was flooded and looked like they only had 2 employees.i hope management gets more people working in there and turn this store around. We wont be in going back .

Their beta fish were in a small bag that was closed with maybe an inch of water, some of them were already dead.

Brought my pups in for their very first groom. I was a little nervous as I haven t needed to bring a dog in for grooming for a very long time. I was pleasantly impressed with the professionalism with the staff and with how great they did with my pups. They also look amazing!!!
The grooming staff was very rude and unpleasant. The visit to this salon only reminds me why petsmart is far more professional and understanding.

I had originally given this location five stars but based on my two recent trips to the location, Im updated my thoughts. I never have a problem with returns here, but recently, I was not allowed to return it, though I had the receipt, I had told her about the 100 day guarantee that was promised and always honoured, and the product was not damaged and therefore I should have been able to be returned. She gave me some serious attitude, didnt let me return it, and I had to pay in full for the product I was exchanging it for. Then on my next visit, I called when the store opened and asked if they got their shipment of crickets, to which I was told they had them and were currently unboxing them. I drove over an hour later and they were still unboxing them and hasnt relocated them to the plastic bin so I couldnt buy them yet, then in comes another customer looking to buy crickets for her turtle, they denied her too and didnt offer any alternative foods for her to give the turtle, so me, another customer had to show their customer another food source for her pet. They lost out on two customers because they were lost in their conversations instead of unboxing the crickets. I actually returned to hours later and they STILL werent done unboxing them. I called Pets N Such that is a nearby local pet store and asked about their crickets, they said they got their shipment today and I was able to pick up my crickets from them with no problem at all. *update* The employees were sitting there swearing up front super loud and then I couldnt even hear the cashier checking me out because the other employees were talking so loud over her.
Not sure if this is a specific location thing or a nation wide thing, but first of all the was a roach running around on the floor, and while I was looking at the Chameleons I noticed their humidity gauges were at 30% which is not sufficient for the animals well-being whatsoever. There was also the gross trend of beta fish in plastic containers and the lizards were either bored out of their minds or cohabitating with others, which is also not recommended for geckos at all. I understand that it may be difficult to care for so many animals at once but pet-co seems like a company that really doesn t give any thought to these animals, it doesn t matter if they are there temporarily or not, this is unacceptable, otherwise it was relatively clean and a calm environment, the animals had names so I m guessing someone at least has their best interest in mind.
They had what I wanted and what I needed. But looking at the pricing Walmart has better pricing and they have what I want and what I need. Everythings like $3 more expensive here than Walmart

Had a grooming appointment scheduled 3 weeks out. We showed up for the appointment and we were turned away because someone called in. I was not offered alternative solutions and my poor pup really needs a grooming. This was my first time booking a grooming appointment at Petco and I would not recommend it because the schedules are so full and we waited just to be turned away.
Liz was very helpful, but the Hispanic girls was very rude and have not idea what on the world Customers satisfaction means.
Great with dog, kept it calm and professional
I was in there 2 weeks ago right after it opened. I needed to buy some treats and drop off the dog. When I went to the register no one was in the store. They were all outside in the front smoking/vaping and I had to go outside to ask them to come in to check me out.
I went in to buy a fish and Kai( the guy that transferred for Bountiful) was so helpful and friendly! He was able to help me with all my questions and showed me some things to help my fish tank and fish prosper. Every time I go in now, Im going to look for him, to make sure Im getting exactly what I need for my tank.

The West Valley Petco is the worst Petco I ve ever been too. Before purchasing over $100.00 worth of merchandise. I inquired as to where the restrooms were located. The employee looked me over and promptly replied that they didn t have any restrooms. I again inquired about the public restrooms upon checkout. I was told very rudely by another employee that they didn t have any restrooms. When I pressed her as to where the employees went to the bathroom. She told me that they did have restrooms but that they are so dirty that she didn t even feel comfortable using it herself. Bottom line I think I will start shopping at Petsmart from now on they treat their customers a lot better.

By time we got done shopping he was by the entrance smoking with another female employee . I don t think we will be coming back to this location anytime soon, I thought petco was supposed to be a family friendly place instead I felt unsafe. He was an older guy wearing a hat
I have been very disappointed in Petco lately. The store nearest me is always out of one or more items that I need. And Im disappointed in the Whole Hearted brand. For months I could not find the wet food that I normally buy, and now that is back, but the dog food bag size that I buy is not available at any location.
When I called, they said I didnt need an appointment for my dogs nail cutting but when i got there, there was a 30 minute wait and she scheduled me. So next time Im going to schedule.

**Edit** changed review from 1 to 3 stars. Care regarding most animals is fine. Only the tarantula care is a concern. Dont buy Tarantulas here. The information they give regarding their care is mostly incorrect. The few Tarantula species that they do have are not moisture dependent, but yet they are kept in enclosures with high humidity. Its poor husbandry like that that causes unnecessary stress on a Tarantula. There were other things also wrong with the husbandry and as a Tarantula keeper, its sad to see.

This place is ridiculous and unbelievable. Inflexible and lazy employee told us we cannot adopt a hamster because the size of the cage we have was too small and asked for us to come back another time with evidence of said cage, are you for real? First of all, the cage we have is like 6 times the size of the display cage in which they had 2 hamsters in. Second, what s it to them? Like, how are you really asking for evidence of my cage when you have all your animals all cramped together? They can t say they worry about who they re selling their pets to when all of their small pets are barely getting by. Don t waste your time coming here if you want to buy a hamster, go to Pets & Such instead.
Went to get lamp for my graddaughters newly acquired Leopard gecko. The staff member put her project on hold to help me. We met a couple at the register. They paid for the crickets.

this place is so super close to me. everything i looked at buying though was 3-4 times the price of a higher quality item i could buy online. i cap my convenience tax at 5 bucks over, so, no thanks. i left.
I will never shop at this petco again! Although this establishment looks great on the outside, the employees and management on the inside, do not reflect. Bryan was so disrespectful and racist to the African American and white customers, but when it comes to the Hispanic customers. They get his discounts on top of things that already are discounted and he even gives them things for free. I went in to this store to purchase a ferret and was ready to spend as much as I needed, to make sue I had everything I needed for it I noticed Bryan and had asked for help to get one he didnt even acknowledge I was there about 10 minutes later I had asked one of the employees if they could help me and they told me that they didnt speak English and walked away another 10 minutes had gone by and I noticed Bryan again asked him if I could get help with the ferret again he told me that he would call someone over to help me I have been in many petcos and any time I have been told that the go over the intercom and ask for a employee to go to the department that someone is needing help in but nothing no call for an employee to come help me I had asked another employee that was walking by if they could help me and they told me it wasnt there job so I went to the check out stand and asked to speak with the manager low and behold Bryan walks up and sees me standing there and rolls his eyes and say, i am the gm here what do you want? I had asked why I couldnt get anyone to help me, he told me I dont know maybe you should just go somewhere else. I didnt know what to say to that and as I was walking out I had heard him say i dont like him and that if that white boy comes back in he needs to be kicked out. I dont even know you Bryan so how could you not like me? The only reason I know your name is because of your name tag.

Since the last time I wrote this review, life as we knew it has changed dramatically, impacted by the Coronavirus and other new viruses. I have been to several more PetCo locations and use their curbside pickup and I can also order online and pick up in-store or curbside. They are always improving their selection but the prices can be a little high for sought after items. I recommend the West Valley PetCo still and am trying to get hired there as well.
The staff answers all your questions and there are a variety of items for different pets

This is a pretty good store. Theyre usually fairly well stocked. Also the employees are, for the most part, friendly.

Their policy is that if the groomer suspects your dog is pregnant, you must suddenly provide proof from a vet that she isnt, despite never even asking basic pregnancy/heat questions any other time we have been there. If you dont have proof, they scream at you and escort you out of the store. Its a pretty weird policy but she said that shed be fired if she didnt follow it.

This particular location in West Valley is definitely not the greatest. Store is kind of a mess. The parking lot & around the store front there is always garbage & trash laying around all over
Charged me 70$ for puppy grooming. I was told she was too young for full grooming so they only cut her nails and shaved her butt area. Total bill was over $70 so they could get her used to clippers My pups hair is still long and knotting up easily. So I Found another groomer for less who didn t make up some excuses as to why they d charge full price for an extra small puppy (4lbs) who they refused to groom fully. Let s just say I won t ever come back. They ve got enough money from me. SMH
We have our three dogs groomed here. Paige is our groomer and she is absolutely amazing! Super knowledgeable. She works with our nervous dogs so well. 100% recommend having your pet groomed here. All the groomers are nice we have just worked with Paige since the beginning and highly recommended her from our experience.
I only buy crickets here so I am not a good judge of the entire place and services. It is clean and the staff are nice.
Ive had my dog, Dwight, groomed here 2 times now. He always comes back so soft and smelling amazing. The staff is very nice and good with him, cant recommend them enough!

Needed to get my dog his next rabies shot and they did a wonderful job!!! Made him feel comfortable quickly and they did the shot really fast as well. Good place!

First time taking my dogs there to get groomed had to find new groomer very professional they groomed my dogs just like I wanted them very nice employees I would recommend to anyone looking for a groomer
Please for the love of God dont sell tanks under 5 gals nothing can live in there and be happy. If they dont listen I want you the reader to do research before any purchasing a animal, Treat animals better. But great plant variety but please do your RESEARCH animals are not toys of thing you buy in the heat of the moment. Also stay away from the neon stuff its really just pointless and dosent help your tank thrive at all.
they had incorrect price tags on their litter boxes & refused to acknowledge them. one of their ferrets was being attacked by another & they also refused to do anything about that either. very trashy attitudes overall.

ANIMAL MISTREATMENT!! Me and my friend went here. My friend is studying Animal Science, and I am studying animals everyday for my own entertainment and education. We both noticed the lizards are in the wrong temperature, it was below their required temperature, which is 70-86°Farenheit. They were freezing and they couldnt move. This is animal cruelty. If I could I would rate half a star, if I had higher power, I would SUE this store. Please raise awareness to this mistreatment IMMEDIATELY. I am also concerned to why most of the cages didnt have food for them to eat, they could also probably be lacking nutrition because they were weak, they rarely moved.

Why is no one caring for the fish department half the tanks have fish suffocating no water flow and the turtles are in a swamp with no pump at all. Apparently you got new management and they are worse.

Fish have no lighting tanks coverd in alge. Didnt see one employee nice get greeted. Turtle tank in corner of store hidden was so sad and dirty not livable for the animals. This place should learn how to take care of animals properly. Worst pet store I have ever been into.

I cant believe what I just experienced at the Petco in West Valley City, Utah at the mall. I stopped by to get my dog a coat and boots. The store was a complete mess. There was stuff all over the floor and all the cloths had been strewn all over the place. The coats/cloths had all been pulled off the hanger, tags removed, and the area was a complete mess. I had to use the restroom and the sales person I asked where it was was so rude to me. The bathroom light was out. My friend and I went around looking for dog toys and chew toys but everything was in disarray. When we went to pay for the items, the lady at the register told us that they had no bags. She went on to say an employee used all the funds for other things and there were no bags for customers. She acted like it was no big deal. I got upset at this lady and what we had just experienced at the store. I complained to her. I told her to tell her boss. She said Im not even supposed to be here--she lifted up her leg to show me a splint. I wanted to leave the items right there and walk out. I will never go to another Petco.
You have the product that I needed, and the clerk was extra helpful.

The staff so far have been friendly. But the store is never stocked! It has the emptiest shelves Ive ever seen! The pets they have there dont look very happy either. Please adopt dont shop!
